well you explain to me why an olypic medalist strugles like **** with men who loose to debutants who never got a sniff at olympics, or any other amateur title, listen, when your an olympion a lot is expected of you, and normaly a world class amateur in his first fights with so called less talented fighters has it easy they aint matched to beat or draw with him, realisticly, would you beleive he could beat patrick mendy , no, but better than that could he beat evens , hes had 4 or5 fights lost 1. this isen,t a personal attack on him , just my opinion of how he's ended up in the limelight without the talent to back it up, it wouldent have happened 30 years ago, when 3 x3 with no headguard was norm, as it was more in the hands of the more talented boxer to take the decision from judges and selectors with ulterior motives:-:)-:)-(

billy, your a kind fellow to boxers, and i know myself how hard boxing is i fought profesional and amateur, though i had little taleent and saw the light and packed in 20 years ago, sitting on the fence is polite, but unless mateuer boxing rules say you fight with your eyes shut, how did he get a bronze medal, geoff evens [may have first name wrong] lost to david in prizefighter semi, would beat him. :good

I think these are the sort of journeymen the better prospects should be in with - Bambula would be 6-0 against Tony's previous opponents.... maybe King might beat him :think

He'd have beaten Sam Horton too.

Same with heavyweights - we need more Tony Booth's coming through.

in the us they kick untalented boxers out the gym, they have so many black, latino, and underprivaliged young people to select talent from, its harder for a uk trainer, as the amateur code has already ruined the real talent, and your left bto fix someone hopping round like a kangaroo, with an afliction, where he can,t shut his fist, jesus, ive seen them give standing counts to the boxer who delivered the punch, they dont like a pro style but they hire robert mcracken to help them look fit for purpose, while they abuse t5he lottery funding.:-:)-:)-:)-:)-(

I live about half a mile from Ton'y Gym (i sound like Flint here!)and round our parts Tony is a local hero so it would be easy for me just to blindly support him,but i must say i just think it's only a matter of time before he comes unstuck,to me he just hasn't progressed.Never saw the fight was away on holiday but it doesn't sound too good.
I really don't know what they're teaching him because he has the basic talent and fundamentals,a good strong jab,he could put the combinations together well but it all just seems to have gone out of the window. The jab is ignored and he basically just tries to blast people out with his defence all over the place, and he has no inside game whatsoever. I hope i'm wrong but the first opponent he fights with decent power will probably take him out.You do wonder about his overall condition because he must be the most photographed person around up these parts he's always doing things for good causes and there does seem a great demand on him. They really need to get a grip because i fear it's all going to end in tears.

Guess i'm not part of ESB yet then :(

But yeah, i definitely agree with all the main points here..Jeffries probably thinks he's great the ammount of attention he gets and stuff, and probably uses all the attention as an excuse to not train as hard as he should and improve on his bad habits

I hope you're right mate.Like i said i think Tony has the basics. The jabs good,he can put the combinations together well and he has decent power.I agree i think he needs to cut down on the charity stuff and other engagements, but he's such a nice kid he just agrees to help people and he obviously finds it difficult to say no,maybe his management need to step in on this.Lets hope he gets back on track because i'd love to see the lad go all the way.
