If he's a B class fighter, then I guess Paul Williams, Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik, and Sergio Martinez are D class fighters since I have them all LOSING clearly to Kalambay.
I can't possibly see any middleweight now beating him. KP, Sergio, Pirog, P-Will, Sturm, and the lot would all be badly outclassed the way I see it. For a while, he looked to me to be special.
kalambay was a eurobum rated by nobody, but as soon as nunn sparked him out it was suddenley a huge win on nunns resume :rofl
Kalambay was far from a bum he beat very good boxers like Mike mccallum,Steve Collins,Iran Barkley,Herol Graham and Doug dewitt.Thats a hell of a resume imo
Very good. Sharp fighter who could box great. Someone gave him a grade earlier. I would say B+ fighter.
lol kalambay was a good fighter, herol graham was a good fighter who lived local to me and kalambay took his 0. i was really pleased about that at the time because graham talked like a *** and had a disgraceful glass jaw.
Kalambay holds one of the most significant wins of that era with his schooling of McCallum. He was about as a good as a technician Ive seen at the weight and a great defensive fighter. If he a Nunn had fought 50 times that result would not have repeated itself, he was just caught cold and unfortunately thats what people remember him for the most.
Good fighter. I've watched a lot of his fights recently and he was always in the mix at world level. Nunn ****ed him up good and proper though. Totally unexpected the way he took him out. Got a lot of respect for Kalambay. A lot of respect
He had two very good fights with Mccallum that may be underrated. Yes Nunn did clock him cold(I'm a Nunn fan but still) but that was during the time where Nunn was very, very good and showed potential to be great(never did fulfill it). Sumbu is not brought up much and probably very underrated and I'm going to watch more of his fights. Both fights with Mccallum were great in my opinion.
atschIn other words you've seen the Nunn fight and nothing else. Kalambay was one of the most skilled pure boxers of the last 30 years. The boxing lesson he gave Mike McCallum proves his class, along with a slew of other good/great performances against solid/excellent fighters like Steve Collins, Herol Graham, Ayub Kalule, Iran Barkley, Doug DeWitt, Robbie Sims, etc. A technician par excellence, his only notable flaw being a lack of punching power, though you wouldn't tell that to DeWitt.
