Manny Steward would be a **** poor choice. Manny has consistently under rated and disparaged Pavlik his entire career. I seriously doubt if KP would ever fully trust him.
his footwork could use some work. he has good balance...lord knows someone with worse balance would get knocked over more w/ the amount of times he's been hit. but footwork...possibly taking a step back when your opponent lunges in, etc. he may not be able to laterally move out of the way but he should be able to see it coming and take a step/half step back to take steam off the opponents shot and set himself up better to counter. but i agree boo. you don't need to reinvent the wheel with kelly. tighten a few things up and get him settled in and rolling in a weight class...
him laughing at kelly prior to the taylor fight wasnt hype for the fight. steward was seriously laughing at kelly.
Yes he was. He was also serious when he said Andy Lee could beat Kelly, and he was shocked that Kelly could out box The Dancing Clown for several rounds. Steward would be one of the worst possible choices.
no offense to andy lee b/c he seems like a good guy with a lot of promise...and no offense to brian vera...but at the time steward was saying lee would be mw champ by years end was about the same time kelly woulda skull dragged lee around the ring 10x worse than vera did.
no...in fact by his own admission he came over and told kelly he was impressed. and post fight said he knew the fight turning for kelly w/ or w/o the ko in the 7th. of course i resigned myself to my drink in the 2nd round. i thought it was over too. manny wasnt alone.
So after the 2nd round, the fight was going exactly as Manny expected lol. Much props for Kelly for getting up from that to win & for Taylor for giving a hell of a fight.
Kelly doesn't need a new trainer. Jack Loew is not the problem. Kelly is the problem. Drugs, alcohol, and a personal life that is in shambles. Kelly had a great amateur career, and huge success as a pro under the tutelage of Jack Loew and Jack Loew only. Kelly need to fix his personal life. Period the end. Stop throwing the trainer under the bus. Most of you don't know what the **** you are talking about anyway.
i'm actually a huge jermain taylor fan and have followed him most of his career. a very good poster, who is also a fan of both guys once likened that fight's ending to that heineken commercial where the guy is at a game and his team wins and he jumps up out of his seat...spill his heineken and then slumps back into his seat in disgust. - pipe wrenched i was so happy for kelly but then immediately felt really bad for jermain.
He doesnt need a tune-up indeed! However he needs to be active and to regain confidence. It takes time usually. I thought he could stay at MW if his diet is right but I might be wrong. Dawson is wrong for most of the guys, the top guy at 168 will go for Dawson but I'd only fancy Ward and Bute and at this point they would all be underdogs but with all the upcoming fights it might all change quickly. Pavlik would be beaten by Dawson and very badly.
I'm a Hopkins fan we have beef:twisted: lol. I rewatched Taylor-Abraham like a month ago and Taylor did better than I thought he did. Hope Taylor's just enjoying his time with his family but hitting the gym every no and then.
