How can anyone NOT respect Mayweather?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by El Cepillo, Aug 5, 2010.

  1. The real question is: How can anyone respect Mayweather? A man of such talent must be held to a higher standard than even elite boxers. He's potentially one of the best ever, yet he consistently fails to step into the ring with prime boxers who pose any sort of threat to his undefeated record. His record is solid. Some would even say it's very good, but he needs more wins over boxers who are regarded as the best in the division, the most dangerous. I think a win over Manny Pacquiao would instantly makes his record a great one. He must be held to higher standard. He's just too good.

"Consistantly fails to step into the ring with prime boxers who pose any sort of threat to his undefeated record". This sounds good, and it's passed around by the haters as "general talking point", but why don't you do the research for yourself and see how many undefeated fighters he's beaten, how many champions he's beaten, and then tell me he shy's away from "threats". Castillo, ODLH, Corrales, Hatton, Judah, JMM, SSM, were all threats, he can't help it that he's so great that you dismiss undefeated world champions as non threats, or accomplished, skilled, successful veterans as non threats.

you've got to respect the guy as a fighter, some super skilled performances at super feather and gatti, hatton, marquez and mosley.the throwing money around doesn't bother me,does he do that when the cameras aren't rolling and most of the other things about opponents are true

Do you know how silly you sound? Excluding JMM which was an obvious tune up but even then morons thought Mayweather would lose, every single one of his last fights have been against the BEST opposition. Guys at the top of their game wth the perfect balance of fame and skill. The problem is that you guys go back and revise history once you see the guy you THOUGHT would win look like an amateur.

Margarito is a PERFECT example of revisionist history. Margarito was a NOBODY. No belts. No fame. NOTHING. Mayweather was in line to fight for the WW title and make history. Then he was in line to fight the PPV king ODLH. Margarito was getting his but beaten by prospects, Williams, and barely squeaking by Clottey. Still you clowns say somehow Mayweather ducked Margarito, not that Margarito screwed himself. Please.

Go by that Pac/Margarito Boxing Entertainment match. YDKSAB.

    Obviously you didn't check.

No test. No fight. Not negotiable.

Then again, you probably have never done a lick of business in your life.

I genuinely do not understand at all why anyone would find that admirable. Floyd is an egotistical, stubborn manchild who is scared of Pacquiao, and is fabricating lies and excuses to avoid fighting him, whilst simultaneously trying to slander Pacquiao's professionalism and reputation. I cannot conceive of any less admirable behaviour for a fighter. In fact, conduct of this sort is a disgrace to the sport. Appalling thread from a normally top poster. Bizarre.

That isn't what was offered. That is what was offered last negotiations. You seem to have a SERIOUS case of either ADD or memory loss. Then again, as a Pac fan you are probably just a general dumba$$.

No test. No fight. Not negotiable.

now what i dont understand is why so many people say joe louis fought very good opposition and made 25 defenses of world title in other terms 20 mandorities maybe 5 current/former champions.

yet when floyd beats almost as many champions everyone say he ducking.

plus alot of joes challengers were bums
