I was reading on espn that Daniel Jacobs got $200,000 for the fight and Pirog only got $50,000, this is whats wrong with boxing just because you don't have a good promoter sometimes you will never come up. I'm happy that the relatively unknown Pirog won. Another thing that's wrong with boxing is sometimes even if your a good fighter no other promoters want their fight to fight you.

Hey, those MMA guys pull in less than that for title fights unless they're the most recognizable names, so Pirog shouldn't feel that bad.

Thats not whats wrong with boxing that makes perfect sense. Pirog was a complete unknown, Jacobs was the one coming in with all the hype and promotion as the next big thing

Daniel Jacobs deserved more $. Like u said no one knows Pirog. They got paid accordingly. They both got a title shot. Which IMO niether deserved. I do agree that after that fight no promotor will put a young prospect in with him. Even with the WBO strap.:rasta

Pirog has gain some fame after knocking out Jacobs so his stock has increase and he'll start making more money. If he beats another big name, the big promoters will come knocking at his door.

Oscar made tons more than most of his opponents even when he lost, he was the more popular one. It makes sense.

Bingo. Now jacobs is back to square one and Pirog has a belt and some nice options. Pirog got the better end of the deal in the end.

Dont worry pirog will be a millionaire by the end of 2011. Jacobs will be back on ESPN were he belongs.

maybe we could spend more time talking about the Nonitos of the world and spend less time en talking about the wanna be Apollo Creeds/SRLeonards/Ali or whateva, he got served and anybody who throws out P.E.D. accusations needs to remove the sugar from their pants, stay off the hershey highway and recognize that their comfy American Imperialist B.S. is in their own delusional mindset. Nobody wants to see bum-ass fights and pay for them so stop supporting the garbage financially and the slimy, scum sucking bottom feeding promoters will give the fans something decent.

    Just finally watched this fight.
Though I doubt the outcome would be different, I think that was a quick stoppage.
He was rising up on 5/6. Jacobs should have been allowed to try to stand instead of being held down.

I don't understand why this wouldn't be a 50/50 under the circumstances since it was a 'mandated' title bout with no current title holder? I thought no one had the upper hand?

Pirog was absolutely unknown in America. Hell even most of us here at ESB (hardcore fans) didnt know anything about him without looking him up or getting insights from the Euros that did follow him leading up to this fight.
