My apologies if this has already addressed in another thread and I missed it. What if there is a points tie for the final spot in the Super 6 super middleweight semifinals? I assume that Ward will beat Dirrell. Ward ends up with either 6 or 7 points and Dirrell 2. I assume that Kessler will defeat Green. Kessler has 4 points and secures a spot in the semifinal. Green ends up with 0 points and is out. Which leads to the Froch v Abraham fight. I slightly favor Froch to win - therefore he would end up with 4 points and qualify for the quarterfinals, and Abraham would end up with 3 points and qualify as well. However, if Abraham beats Froch, then Abraham will have at least 5 points and would qualify for the semifinals. Froch would have two points - the same as Dirrell. Would Froch get the nod into the semifinals due to a head-to-head win over Dirrell? (Yes, I know it's possible that Dirrell could beat Ward and that Green could beat Kessler - but I don't see either of those happening).
read the rules on the website if there is a tie it goes to number of rounds won, the boxer with the most advances.
Froch should, but there is no official word yet...or at least nothing I have heard yet. As far as I know that if there is a tie, the Showtime website says, "In the event of a tie on points, a tie-break mechanism is in place" Don't know what the means, but Froch should move on if Froch and Dirrell have the same amount of points (2).
