What would happen to the landscape of heavy weight boxing should Briggs pull off the seemingly impossible and knock Vitali out cold. Would it affect his legacy or would people just say he was too old?
Hey anything is possible, I think pretty much anyone will admit Briggs best chance is early. The way I see the fight going Briggs throws everything he has and in the 2nd round Vitali hits the mat for the count. Vitali is not hard to hit Briggs has 84" reach I guarantee you one thing and that is the fact Vitali will get his chin tested.
:huh He's certainly not easy to hit. But, yeah, anything can happen. If Briggs goes all out, it's probably his best chance, but then he'll gas and be in very bad shape afterward if the fight's still going.
In a case like this...Then when has the HW division ever been ****? Many consider Lewis as one of the best HW's, and he was KO'ed COLD by Rahman. Mike Tyson was beat by Buster Douglas. etc, etc. If a man who's 270 pds of muscle hits you...Even if your 240-250 yourself, and better skilled he damn sure stands a chance to knock you out. When you got giant men like these going at it, anything can happen! I'm 98% sure Vitali wins this, but I'd never completely count out a hard hitting goliath like Briggs. Vitali also eats a lot of leather even though he has a granite chin.
I think the current version of Briggs is alot more powerful than Lennox had. If Lennox made mince meat of Vitali's face then Briggs certainly could too.
I`d rather see Briggs throw 40-50 punches in 2-3 rounds and be gassed then 5 punches per round which he has at times been guilty of but if he comes in the low 250's I think Briggs becomes alot more dynamic.
Here's the thing. We're talking about a 280 pound man with asthma. No 280 pound man with asthma should be heavyweight champion of the world. Period, in my opinion. The fact that Shannon Briggs is a contender for a heavyweight belt almost makes me want to throw up and if he wins it's going to make me sick. The heavyweight division is a joke and I don't care who tries to disagree with me. When a 300 pound boxer with asthma gets a title shot, it's **** all.
He has enough pop in his punch... But he will have to actually come in shape and throw punches. None of this one punch a round bull****...
Briggs fought at 258lbs recently that is alot less than you are burning him for. If he really wants it and comes in at 250lbs he will be way more mobile and be able to unload for longer and I don`t see Vitali holding up to the onslaught.
even if briggs connects Vitali's chin is proven iron. NEVER been knocked down in his career and he has taken bombs.
I doubt his punch resistance is the same as it was when he was younger. His skin sucks and he could get cut up and have it stopped. Briggs---power is the last thing to go. Also, Vitali got knocked out in his kickboxing career. ...I'm just devil's advocating here though, of course.
