I remember fondly an incident that happened during the Anthony Logan fight at the Royal Albert Hall back in 1988.

At the end of round one, Nigel returned to his corner, only to be startled by the desperate cries of an injured Chaffinch in the adjacent Hyde Park.

Quickly darting from the venue, Nigel rescued the stricken fledgling (which had fallen from its nest), fashioned a makeshift splint from a wooden lolly stick and returned it to its home.

Barely making it back to hear the bell for the start of round two, Benn proceeded to despatch 'The Terminator' in typically brutal fashion.

Boxing lore has it that upon turning pro, Nigel Benn was quite insistent that his nickname should be "The Dark Listener" until Ambrose Mendy convinced him otherwise.
