Not exactly a high skill level fight, but one I think would be suitable as a decent undercard for b.a.d. card.

Either way, I'm not asking if you'd want to see this, as I'm sure not too many would, other than fanatics like myself, rather who do you think wins if it ever did happen?

We already know what happens to Gomez when he steps up to world class, but he isn't exactly a taxi driver, and he has ALOT of heart. And Matt seems to be quickly getting better with every fight. But based on how much Gomez stuggled with Karass (only winning because of point deductions), I'm gonna say Matt will be able to pull out a close decision.

    M.Hatton SD A.Gomez.

    Thoughts?

I would go for Gomez, he may not do it at world class but he takes Matt by UD. Too fast and smooth.

    Great question!

I would go for Alfonso by close UD

If it was in England I would go for a draw!

But I think Alfonso out works Hatton, more skills and has been in with better competition

Gomez is a lot better than people make him out to be. He is the welterweight gatekeeper, thats not bad considering hes in one of the deepest if not the deepest division of the sport.

Personally I would rather see a Gomez/D.Rodriguez fight along with M.Hatton/Malinaggi

    Very good point. :think

I may be giving Matt a little benefit of the doubt here, as I thought his boxing ability has ascended enough as of his last fight to give someone like Alfonso a life and death match.

Would depend on where the fight is held. I think they're pretty evenly matched.

Not that it was easy per se, but Gomez didn't struggle too much with Karass, the scorecards were pretty whack for that fight. Karass only clearly won one round while Gomez won four clearly with one being close. Gomez is the better technician, a little bigger, little faster, more durable, and a little more powerful in a battle of light punchers. He'd probably win by UD.

I'd go with Gomez by UD. He's fought better fighters, is probably a little quicker and more power. But I could see Hatton winning on cuts.

This seems more appropriate on ESPN than a HBO undercard fight.
