How's that US writers always find a way to cover up such a disgrace?

Yep. A fight is a fight is a fight. "Some guy" who "apparently was at the fight" shouldn't be awarded any greater significance than someone who saw it on television.

This guy is supposed to be a boxing expert on a boxing blog not the Associated Press, Reuters etc. with their terse factual reports that "Alexander won a decision against Kotelnik"

He also never said that Devon recieved a gift, he said "Devon Alexander may have received an early Christmas gift..." There were a lot of ifs, mights, mays, possiblys but no concrete opinion on what he saw. He was doing damage control but he was also thinking of his reputation. We'll see what he says in his weekly mailbag...

Ok fair enough, indeed he doesn't say anything definitive about how he saw the fight, but he usually is a bit more neutral in his fight reports than he is in his mailbag as you said, unless a really blatant robbery took place which wasn't the case here because the outcome was debatable. He did strongly indicate however that he questioned the outcome, and the ts used the article to support his claim of how biased American writers are, which given the content of this particular article was just wrong.

To be fair to the TS though, he may have just been going by the title of the article to make a point without actually reading it.

Harold Lederman works for HBO, Alexander is HBO cashcow, if HBO tels Harold Lederman to sack DA dick he cant refuse it, otherwise he has to find new job, that's why he scored almost every single round for DA

Just take a look at Dan Rafael's Monday take on the fight, covering up what the boxing community still calls a daylight robbery including many Alexander fans, many at ringside. 80% disagrees with the following.

It was not Alexander's best night, but the hard-fought (and deserved) victory over the tough-as-nails former titlist from Ukraine may have served an important purpose. Because Alexander looked a bit less impressive Saturday than in his title victory against Junior Witter last August and in his spectacular knockout performance against Juan Urango in their March unification fight, it might make putting together his next fight a bit easier. Most of us would like to see the proposed Jan. 29 HBO showdown against titleholder Timothy Bradley Jr. come off in a match between the two best 140-pounders in the world. Bradley's promoter, Gary Shaw, was not all that impressed with Alexander, and perhaps that will grease the wheels so we can get the summit meeting signed, sealed and delivered before anyone changes his mind.

Despite Alexander's struggles, including a cut over his left eye (the first time he had ever been cut) in the fourth round and a cramped left leg in the 12th round, the 23-year-old's speed and work rate were probably the difference to the judges in the highly competitive fight. Alexander, who won on the 54th birthday of his mother, Sharon Alexander, landed 202 of a whopping 1,113 punches (18 percent), according to CompuBox statistics, while Kotelnik connected on 225 of 763 punches (29 percent). Alexander also used his jab way more.

Alexander was the star of the promotion. He was the hometown kid fighting in a main event and in a title fight at home for the first time, and almost 10,000 strong showed up to support him. He also couldn't go anywhere without being asked about the possible Bradley fight. But to Alexander's credit, and to the credit of his outstanding trainer/manager, Kevin Cunningham, they kept their focus on Kotelnik, a 2000 Olympic silver medalist and the only fighter to hand highly regarded Marcos Maidana a pro loss. After Kotelnik, 32, outpointed Maidana to retain his belt in February 2009, he lost it in his next fight in July when England's Amir Khan, another of the division's big names, scored a virtual shutout against him.

Kotelnik did not look rusty after the 13-month layoff. He fought very well and landed more punches on Alexander than he's ever been hit with in a fight. Afterward, he and his team railed against the decision. It is understandable that they were frustrated, but Alexander did enough to win the fight, especially after banking so many early rounds. This was no hometown decision, no matter how much some folks want to complain as though it was a highway robbery.

Kotelnik shouldn't be penalized for the loss. He remains one of the best in the division, and it would be a shame if he didn't get some other notable opportunity. But now we move on to Alexander-Bradley. Hopefully, Shaw, Don King (Alexander's promoter) and HBO's Ross Greenburg can get this done in short order.

This is exactly what I wrote down on Sunday, a competley biased cover-up to "move on" to Bradley-Alexander, a fight between "the two best LWWs" after a "hard fought but deserved" decision vs. a "tough as nails challenger". While Rafael points out the "whopping" numbers that Alexander threw, he does not recognize that Kotelnik landed more. This is sweet science not volume for victory for Chrissakes!

Total bull****, Dan Rafael doesn't even mention the outrage in the arena reported by members here, that even Alexander fans though Kotelnik won. Some will call this a "fair take" on the fight but Rafael simply forgot to mention that it was an outrageous robbery with 80% of his readers sending angry and frustrated emails for this injustice. US media should not get a free pass just because "the best two LWWs" are about to fight and Kotelnik with his victory performance is in that path. Total bull****! The best LWWs are Bradley, Khan and Kotelnik and the boxing community stand behind that statement.

- Now, onto the main event; I thought Kotelnik may have edged this fight out based on the cleaner, more effective punches. But did anyone really think that he was going into “The Loo” and taking that title from Alexander? But in the second half of that fight, he was the guy who closed hard and shook “The Great” more than once.

Alexander showed that just because you might be slick and possess speed and quickness, that doesn’t necessarily mean you are elusive. Throughout the night, he left his chin up in the air and exhibited almost no head movement after punching, much to the frustration of his trainer/manager, Kevin Cunningham. But he got through it somehow. Now, the question is, will he become better from this or has a certain blueprint been laid on how to attack Alexander.

I think what you are seeing on ESB is the influx of fickle fans coming on here and starting outrage threads... when the ones that agreed with the decision and most of the media are probably just still in bed not making threads about it.

I haven't read through all the posts, but if you are saying 80% of ESB had Kotelinik winning by a wide margin, then all I can tell you is that 80% of ESB has an agenda, don't know much about boxing, aren't qualified to judge fights, but most importantly are wrong. I mean no disrespect but to say Kotelinik won that fight period, is obviously no accurate, but to take it to the extreme of won by a large margin is blatantly wrong. I mean he got out hussled, he didn't drop the kid, he was eating plenty of punches himself, and while I agree he had some of the better individual moments over the course of 12 rounds no way he won that fight, and certainly he didn't win it wide. I mean seriously, all three judges and Lederman had him winning comfortably. I mean Kotelinik had 3 really good rounds, no doubt about it, within those rounds he dished out the most significant punishment of the fight. But the other 9 rounds he plodded around throwing a couple of counter shots here and there and allowed himself to get out worked. It's like Hopkins-Taylor, it's not Alexanders fault that Kotelinik allowed his opponent to outwork him, had he picked up the pace maybe things would have been different, had he come out working like he did in the late mid and late rounds, maybe he gets the win, but he didn't. Bottom line, Kotelinik allowed himself to lose that fight by not being busy enough, not working hard enough, and allowing the heart and "want to" of his opponent to win out, point blank.

I can tell you idiots that call Harold is biased or he's doing what hbo tells him to do about most of the fights that Harold score a fight on a fighter that is a big underdog. Didn't Harold score it 114-113 for Quartey over De la hoya??? Did Harold had Raheem winning over Morales? Man i can go on and on.
