What is sweet science? Alexander's ineffective volume or Kotelnik's clean punching?

What sweet science is all about? One fighter throwing a zillion punches on the guard with no serious effect, or the other throwing less, but actually landing on target, outfoxing and outboxing the volume guy with a highly intelligent tactic?

imo kotelnik didn't close out... if he won the last 2 rounds he would have won the fight

 

Care to comment on the thread title maybe? What do you consider sweet science of the two?

 

how do you figure. He won the 11th round hands down and anyways he lost by 4 points so even if he won the last 2 rounds, he wouldn't win the fight.

 

i havent seen tha fight but clean effective and economic punching should always be scored ahead of walking forward throwing lots but missing or hitting gloves with lots

 

Kotelnik won the 12th for what it's worth, Alexander was out on his feet, if this was a 15 rounder, Alexander would have been stopped.

He was also black American fighting at home with a 0 on HBO on Don Kings card.
No wonder the Klits cant be asked to fight in USA.

so just being fitter and throwing is better than actual boxing ?

 

the judges DID see Alexander land his left on many occasions, setted up by spamming his jab... they also dont have the benefit of a punch tracker like we do so....

their view of the fight is much more subjective in a PoV way, we have more information available to us thru the punch track, 3 commentators, and 1 unofficial judge, to base and form our opinions off of. So get real for pete's sake....

Kind of roleplaying into their possible PoV. Alexander circling around but throwing much more punches, including combinations. Alot of them falling short, some on the arm, but 1 or 2 slips thru the guard and lands. Kotelnik actually dictating the terms of the fight with being able to stay in the pocket and time Alexander well. He kind of potshotted him at first but WAS committing in combinations too.

One fighter committed alot more energy and aggression but not as effective. The other fighter didnt commit as much energy or fully engaged his opponent, but effective in his punching. Punches landed came close to be the same too. So down to it, which fighter you gonna award the victory. Like Lederman said in the end, its down to your personal choice of style. He admitted liking a busier fighter, and there's nothing wrong with that. Personally, i think its on the less busier fighter to shine and pointedly outclass the busier fighter to get that decision. Kotelnik didnt do that. As someone else said, he didnt close out the fight when he could of. If the judges awarded Alexander the last 2 rounds and Kotelnik could have stole them, it would have been a 4 point swing and a draw... thats what i have the fight as personally

 

Yeah punching air and gloves all night deserves a lot of credit :roll:

 

Clean effective punching is what boxing is all about.
