Berto, Caballero, Dzinziruk tripleheader being explored?

Beating Clottey will not make Berto a better fighter. It will be frustarting fight for Berto, and could actually end up hurting him. Berto would take a fight with Cotto in a hearbeat. His team tried to make this fight for this fall/winter but Cotto said he wasn't interested in the fight.

 

No, he shouldn't take stupid fights. Maweather, Cotto, Pacquiao; those are all tough fights that he should jump on in a heartbeat. Clottey is a stupid fight. Berto stands to gain nothing by fighting Clottey. You don't fight guys like Clottey when they're at a lowpoint in their career.

That's bull****. Did fighting Hopkins, Wright, Spinks, and Ouma make Taylor a better fighter? No, it didn't. He looked worse and worse everytime out. Those fights plumeted his popularity and then he got knocked out. Now everyone has turned their backs on Taylor and he gets ridiculed by fans. None of them give a **** that he fought the best available to him. Berto is not some young prospect. He's damn near 27 and is in the prime of his career.

Like it or not, Berto is both an athlete and a product. Berto has fought some good, but tricky guys as of lately and it has hurt him. He's becoming less and less marketable with every outing and I'm not seeing him improve all that much. The fact of the matter is, fans and everyone else will turn on you if you don't look good out there. Collazo is on the same level as Clottey and is also a tricky fighter. Berto fought him, gutted out a decsision and it his popularity went down. Meanwhile, a guy like Angulo is beating up handpicked setups every fight and he's becoming more and more popular. Fighting Clottey would be a dumb fight and makes no sense. Cotto might wipe the floor with Berto, but that's a much smarter fight to take. So it's not about Berto not taking tough fights.
