the problem is arum he dosent like floyd because he left him then hit the big time and big$ but thats another story for another time , arum also has a problem odlh for pretty much the same thing only on a bigger scale he also left arum then went on to be his main rival in terms of promotional companys and he also went on to have a few big ppvs that arum would have been entitled to a nice cut of if oscar was still with top rank


all in all its egos and arum not wanting to give an inch to golden boy and people feel that king is the right man to thrash out a deal with arum

Its just a "plan B" after "plan A" didn't work for the last 12 months. I think its a simple as "lets try something different, maybe that will work".

I cant believe there seems to be a clamour for don king to get involved

why would anybody apart from king himself want that?

 

1) with King onboard its a bigger fight.
2) Pretty much all US promoters hater Goldenboy due to the guarenteed deal with HBO which no other promoter had. Arum knows if he King gets Mayweather Goldenboy will lose there HBO deal.
3) Goldenboy are good with the latin american marker, but King is the master with the African Americans. He will get Floyd on every black talk show, magazine and newspaper before the fight.
4) Arum and King can do a deal where both fighters think there getting a good deal.

 

King has made some of the biggest fights in history and his undercards are decent.

With Don King its a bigger fight.

I don't think this fight was ever going to happen this year. That didn't stop me getting carried away in the excitement but in that back of mind I always doubted it.

Once Pac cleaned out Oscar and Hatton and hit the big time, Arum was always going to put him against his own boys at that level first; so we got Cotto/Clottey/Margarito.

Once Margarito is finished with, I wouldn't be surprised if miraculously they managed to come to a breakthrough in negotiations and set up the fight for next Spring.
