if i am not mistaken, that fight was not for a vacant title...and it wasn't someone who has never fought above 147 being given a shot at a vacant title where others who actually fight in that div should get a chance

I think Pacquiao is doing that all by himself. I won't go on a rant about how 1 pound less than his previous fight, completely debilitated Cotto. I don't really think that was the case. However, Pac fought ODLH at 147, is there really any reason he couldn't face Cotto at the WW limit?

True. But Pac is the Pound For Pound #1 and conqueror of weight divisions. He
    This content is protected
qualified and deserving. Let's see another 154 guy make more PPV buys going for that vacant title.

none of that legitimizes the title fight

actually, it actually takes away from the already hurting legitimacy of the ABCs.

why even have rankings, contenders and mandatories?

following your logic, boxing should just get rid of all the divisions and just have random fighters calling each other out, the biggest draws get the fights.

hell sounds good to me...no more titles, no more ABCs, no more weight divisions

It will be legitimate. Boxing fans will see it as it is. A fight to watch and enjoy. No nitpicking necessary to a sport that needs boosting, not more negativity.

Only haters will. A sham of a fight won't do 500,000 + PPV buys. You can count on it.

You would have a solid argument if the only "mentioning" and "agreement" for a catchweight was the Cotto fight at 145lbs. But here is what makes your argument totally void...When Shane Mosley went to Roach/Pacquiao's gym and asked (Begged Actually) for a fight with Manny Pacquia....Freddie Roach demanded that Mosley weigh-in at 142lbs or no more than 143lbs, And Mosley Agreed!!! But Roach still decided to fight Cotto for his "PAPER TITLE" instead of Mosley for his Lineal Title, saying: "WHY TAKE THE RISK?" Then Roach/Pacquiao signed the Cotto fight at a Catchweight of 145lbs and now fighting for a VACANT 154lbs Strap at another Catchweight.

So what two HALL OF FAMERS agreed to do (ONE TIME) "Back in the day" has no bearing on how Freddie Roach is ABUSING the system to make sure his fighter has an advantage.

The fight will sell because Pacquiao is riding a tsunami of popularity. This fight will sell only because the casual fans don't know that he sucks. Wake me up when Pacquiao fights some real competition.
