Bowe and Lewis going at it. Man I wish this fight would have happened!!!

    Maybe I'm weird, but I don't make lists and ****. Everybody has lists for this and that. I can't be bothered with that ****. Do I think Bowe was the goods? Yes, for a short period of time. He wouldn't be an easy win for anyone when he was prime. He's just got too much going on, but he's also flawed too. Far from unbeatable, still quite formidable.

    bullseye! Bowe was ****ing great. i think hes very underrated. although i was sitting with him at some fights in DC a couple months ago and he was talking about doin MMA .. thats just a bad idea..

    Bowe only really lost the rematch with Holyfield because of his weight and lack of training. He was grossly overweight, and he still came dangerously close to pulling off the win.

    Both at their best, Bowe was a superior Heavyweight to Evander Holyfield.

    Chill the **** out.

    He was'nt grossly overweight, i think your taking it abit to far there. Riddick Bowe still had a immense workrate in the second fight..!!! and looked strong as ****.

    He lost the rematch because Evander Holyfield was bigger and stronger, than the first fight.

    And Evander Holyfield got more technical on his ass.

    I'd tell you to chill the **** out but then we're all entitled to our opinion. You think Holyfield's strength and tactics were the deciding factor whereas I think that had Bowe not weighed in 11 pounds more than he did for the first fight, he'd have most likely won again. We'll agree to disagree. I'd usually start showing you photographs of how much bigger Bowe was in the rematch but I'm sure you already know yourself.

    Holy won the rematch because he fought smart imo, that shows Bowe's flaw that he could be out-thought. Holy had a gameplan whereas in the first fight he just did what he did, a bit Like in the first Lewis fight, felt that he just had to turn up to win and paid for it against a bigger man who knew how to perform to his advantages (although on that occasion not as dearly as he should have)

    Who the **** did bowe beat? He beat Holyfield a smaller guy. thats all. look what happened to him vs golota. he admitted to being out on his feet vs hide. he ducked lennox. he never fought foreman. he never fought ruddock, he never fought morrison, or bruno, or tyson. bowe never fought or beat a good fighter in his prime besides holy. he was scared as hell of lewis. now we are supposed to think he would dominate all time great fighters with ease. LOL

    I know Riddick Bowe was 11 pounds heavyier, but boxing is not all about weight. Riddick Bowe when he fought Andrew Golota, during the first fight.......was fat as **** at 252 pounds.........but still looked strong on his feet.

    In the rematch..."Riddick Bowe weighed 235pounds", and he was stumbling about, and looked weak on his feet.

    It was down to share heart, and raw talented that got Riddick Bowe through the second fight.

    When Riddick Bowe fought Evander Holyfield for the second time, i don't think he was grossly overweight or out of shape.

    He was big, he was strong....and there was nothing wrong with his fitness.

    Evander Holyfield was an infinitely better Heavyweight than the majority of fighters you just listed, and would go on, years later, to not only beat Mike Tyson but give Lewis all he could handle. Nobody here has claimed Riddick Bowe was one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time, but he showed more than enough during his supposed peak to indicate he'd have given many great fighters a lot of problems. You're too dismissive.

    Bull**** !! you talk like if Bowe never did anything he provided us with one of the greatest and most exciting rivalries ever against Holyfield. To compare him to Golotas mental instability is blashphemous. Both Klitchkos combined have not provided us with half the excitement or Balls that Riddick showed.

    A prime Bowe would have knocked out that overrated less than mediocrce chin Lewis.

    Riddick Bowe of 1993 to the one of 1996. Non-comparable.

    I remember just as the fight was starting that George Foreman was commentating on Riddick Bowe's shorts being pulled up high. "He's ashamed of coming in out of shape, trying to hide all that flab".

    Please. The fight was nip and tuck. I've watched it several times, and it was really, really close. Holyfield was damn lucky to get the decision. And yes, Bowe was out of shape. Why is it that Lewis fans continually grant him every excuse in the book for his loses? No, no...He was out of shape. He was uninterested...He was filming Oceans 11! And when it comes to any other heavyweight, loses are an absolute, unforgiveable:D....Hillarious.

    It would have been a great fight had they met just after Bowe had become champ.Sadly that was the best Bowe,he went on the slide straight after this fight.Although Lewis himself got stopped soon after getting handed a belt he picked himself up and improved as a fighter.I think the Bowe of 92/93 beats the Lewis of 92/93 but the Lewis of the late 90`s would beat any version of Bowe.

    In my concern Bowe was one of the most gifted fighters in the Heavyweight Division ever. A prime Bowe would knock out Wlad easily!
    Is there anybody out there on ESB who can tell me how David Haye could have beaten a Bowe like in the first Holyfield fight? I think there is no way that could have happened.

    1. He had a good jab.
    2. He was great in fighting inside (what the most Heavyweights today never really had to / could show so far by now)
    3. He had a more than average solid chin. In the Holyfield and in the Golota fights he proved that he could take some big shots.

    But obviously he did not take care of his defense properly.

    Unfortuantely himself was his biggest enemy. His lack of discipline ruined his career.
