Yeah it may be a joke but its a challenge for Berto.

Berto and Alexander are pretty similar, differnce being Berto doesn't constantly throw punches so it will be harder to give him the nod on activity.

This is a good test for Berto, even if it isn't the kind of fight we'd like to see.

Berto has better defense than Alexander. He's not exactly a defensive wizard himself, though. Berto definitely has better footwork and has much quicker hands. I'd also say he's a sharper puncher. And even if he gets wild trying to penetrate Kotelnik's shell and might get caught with his questionable chin, Kotelnik won't stop him.

I think it will be a safe performance in a not overly exciting fight. It might not be like the Urango distaster where he only ran and clinched, but he won't set the world alight either. A lot of activity, low accuracy, some footwork and pot-shotting to confuse the sometimes plodding and overly patient Kotelnik. Against Khan he was swamped in the activity and couldn't get his own shots of due to Khan's movement. This will be similar.

To be impressive, he needs to do what nobody else has done - stop Kotelnik. I don't think he can. Kotelnik survived Maidana who punches a lot harder. 118-110/117-111 with a lot of blocked punches on a smaller, older opponent won't do it for me. Berto needs to work on his right uppercut, which is one of his best punches. Get an accumulation stoppage on the older man.

Fot Kotelnik, well... He needs to take chances because he won't get a decision. I think he has to stop Berto since Berto is so active. Cut off the ring, to to catch Berto with right hand counters when he get over-aggressive. Make him pay and try to cut down his workrate. Make in an inside fight, though I'm unsure how Berto is there. He can hardly be as inept as Alexander though and Berto is bigger too. This will be very hard for Andriy.

One or two more fights, then he has to take on someone better in his own size. Perhaps a declining Cotto could suit a Berto on the rise in one years time?
