Peoples view of Lennox Lewis Legacy has really enhanced since he Retired

some people have joe frazier in there top 8 heavyweights. 1 great win over ali, then the rest of his winning resume is horse****.

 

Lewis, beat every person to step into the ring with him and he ran from nobody in a relatively loaded era.

 

Not the most exciting fighter, but he got the job done. I think he's underrated if anything.

Lewis at #3 isn't something mindless. He was dominant. Beat Holyfield (x2 for sure). Golota, Mercer, Briggs, Tua, Vitaliy Klitschko, Rahman, Botha, Grant, Morrison, Tucker, Bruno, Ruddock and a shadow of Tyson. Now that is quality depth. Bowe ducked him and he avenged his only 2 losses. He is one of the best h2h materials at HW. Personally I rate him #4 behind Ali, Louis and Holmes.

Both himself and Holyfield weren't at their primes when they fought each other, but were still pretty good. Lewis beat alot of tough competition in their prime with the exception of Tyson and Holyfield, and even though they were the same age, actually Lewis might of been alittle older than Tyson, but Tyson obviously was way past his best, farther than Lewis was. Many of the guys in Lewis's resume were former champs or could of been champs if not for him. Guys like Mercer, Golota, Morrison would of been trouble for any champ of any era when they were in their primes. The current champ Vitali got beat in his prime by a Lewis who was already on his way out.

 

He's in the top 10 . Hell he took on everybody!!!!!!!!!

 

Lewis has become ridiculously overrated by some, probably because he was the last great HW champ and the current era is so abysmal. IMO, he's borderline top ten at best. He's the only top level HW champ who was taken out early not once, but twice, by ordinary fighters like Rahman and McCall when he held the title.

 

I'm curious what top 10 of people who rate LL so low looks like...

 

Hes got a better resume than tyson and holyfield imo.The names on his resume speak for themself:Morrison,ruddock,golota.Briggs,Holyfield twice,Klitschko,rahman.Tua,Mccall,Tyson and Grant.He beat everybody in his generation including a stoppage win over bowe in the amateurs so he deserves to be rated as high or higher than Holyfield or Tyson even though its tough to seperate the three sometimes in terms of atg standing.

 

Fought and beat everyone available when the division was excellent. What more is he missing?

 

I could not stand Lewis when he was champ but in the years since he retired ive come to realise just how good he was.I think sky tv`s commentary helped my dislike of him.In their eyes he could do no wrong.The Mavrovick fight was a good example,Lennox struggled with a decent but limited and smaller guy and sky heaped praise on him.Anyone else would have been ripped to bits.
Lennox was a very good champ and Im even starting to say great champ despite the 2 shocking KO`s against him.

 

I think fans respect him more. Not sure if they necessarily rate him higher all-time. A few might, but not anyone that really matters or has any real knowledge of the history of the sport.
