Bob Arum responded to Andre Berto's claims that Antonio Margarito had been ''rewarded'' with a fight against Manny Pacquiao for the controversy surrounding his illegal handwraps.

''We thought Margarito was the bigger sell. Pacquiao beat Cotto pretty decisively less than a year ago and we didnt think people would be willing to pay to watch a rematch yet.''

He feels ''Handwraps'' popularity with hispanics made the fight a much easier sell than one with Berto ''who in his last fight, in Miami near his hometown, in a 20,000-seat arena, drew less than a thousand people''. He hopes to hold the fight in Abu Dhabi because it has tax advantages for Pacquiao.

Arum is a POS. We are just the clueless masses to this guy. Everyone knows berto vs Pac is a real pay per view fight.

    Is that true?
Wow! I thought he would do much better than that.

We know Berto is not a brand and I am unsure what core following he has but I did not know the performance was that poor in his last fight.

berto is not a big seller yet only against the really big boys.berto vs pacman would sell out anywhere but the pacman camp would never be interested.way to risky.we all know whaty bob arum's game is.

I dont really know to be honest, I was just quoting Arum. He might be exaggerating but I know he got nowhere near the capacity.

berto was poor in his last fight, but boxing people know he's a real threat to anyone at 147.no real fan base, but hbo and like i said the fans know the guy is dangerous.no big fight for him unless he takes considerably less of the cut

    I can't believe that.

Berto's last fight was shown live on Sky and there looked to be way more that 1,000 people there!

Arum is a disgrace, and is BAD for boxing. It's amazing how Don King could be so hated due to race but the true low-life Arum, a man who freezes fighters out, and has in the past been caught paying off IBF officials gets a free pass. Margacheato gets caught with Plaster and this POS still gives him big fights that he doesn't deserve.

Berto will get his ass blasted if he fought Pacquiao.....and it sucks to say that. Berto is as high as he is going to get.....he has peaked.
