    Hello all,

I sat down and watched my first MMA (UFC117) the other day and loved it. Used to watch a lot of boxing but have decided to convert across to the dark side....:thumbsup Can anyone recommend a good UFC match to watch? Cant get enough at the moment.

    Cheers,
    BC

Well, not really a need to "convert". I love MMA more then any other sport...but a large margin, too...but I still love watching grappling matches. Keep on watching boxing. It's just a specialized aspect of MMA. MMA just lets you throw everything into the pot and you see what you get.

I don't know how well versed you are in grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but if you have even a moderate knowledge of it, Jason MacDonald vs. Demian Maia at UFC 87 will blow you the **** away! I've seen that fight literally dozens of times and love it every single viewing!

    Good for excitement? Hmmm....

Forest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar - Ultimate Finale 1

Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell - UFC 79

Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Hughes - UFC 79 (I could also watch this endlessly for a number of reasons)

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson - UFC 82

There are lots but going to give the "big name" fights just to kind of break you in...then everything that is good will be more recognizable even when the "name" isn't there.

Awesome cheers brother! Probably worded that wrong, haven't thrown in the towel completely regarding boxing, just finding MMA a lot more interesting at the moment. Will check out those match ups over the weekend. Thanks again!

why choose between boxing and mma. I watch both and enjoy both.

do you actually mean ufc or mma because ufc is simply an organization not the entire sport of mma, it is a common but annoying mistake.

if you have spike tv Ufc Unleashed is a good start along with "the best of pride" show. http://www.spike.com/schedule/spike/ also try VS tv if you have it.

as far as best fights I find it better to simply look up particular fighters who's careers defined mma.

    try:
    shogun rua
    fedor emelianenko
    chuck liddel
    takanori gomi
    matt huges
    kazushi sakuraba
    wanderlei silva
    mirko cro-cop

if you want to view exiting fights try:

    fedor vs cro-cop
    wanderlei vs quinton rampage Jackson
    gomi vs nick diaz
    sakuraba vs renzo gracie
    liddel vs tito ortiz

I love MMA but I also love watching each style in its own right.

There are almost as many ways to get into MMA as there are fighters, but the combination of skills that has seen success with the greatest number of people is simultaneous study of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jujutsu. Find a serious gym for both disciplines, explain your desire to your instructor(s), and follow the training regimen they suggest. Fighting professionally within a year will be extremely difficult, but possible if you are both talented and dedicated.
