It's not on the ESPN.com upcoming fight schedule yet, and Boxrec only has Demetrius Andrade vs. Jhon Berrio penciled in for that date (but it does have them competing on ESPN2 and in Lemieux's hometown of Montreal where neither of them are from, so...) but it's on the programming lineup for that day from 9pm-11pm EST as a live event and they usually refrain from showing anything in the channel guide that isn't firm. For those with cable, check for yourselves!

This is likely a WBC eliminator.

Lemieux is injured. It isn't happening. Plus, Rubio is fighting this weekend on TV in Mexico. Plus, Rubio already won a WBC eliminator.

This could be a nice fight. Jantuah caught Rubio cold and knocked him out. Rubio was so intimidated by KP that his "secret plan to knock Pavlik out" did not work out very well.

However, young David has yet to prove he is in the same class with Pavlik, or 2004 Jantuah. Rubio could win this. On the other hand, if David will throw a ****-load of punches, keep the pressure on, and use the hell out of the left hook, he might just beat the pants off Rubio.

Yep! I like this fight. It's winnable for both guys. At the very least there is probably a nice pay day in the winners near future.

I didn't say it's official; I said that it's listed as being on ESPN2 on 8/28 at 9pm - which it is. :conf

If the programming people are wrong, they're wrong. It would be unusual, though (compared to Boxrec being wrong, for instance).

I did see on Boxrec that Rubio is fighting Zertuche on Mexico Televisa this Saturday. Again, though - Boxrec tends to be less reliable than what the TV folks themselves put forth as booked to air.

Can anyone with Televisa check to see if that fight shows up in their listings?

They were saying that Lemieux couldn't fight on that date cause he was injured (hand injury).

Maybe the healing is quicker than anticipated...

I already checked, and there's a poster for the Rubio-Zertuche rematch.

Anyway, Lemieux was originally supposed to fight on that date against someone else (not Rubio), but had to pull out with an injury. Most likely, Troy Ross will be headlining the card instead.

    Rubio/Zertuche II:patsch

I was aware that Zertuche was still active, but after the 2 Zuniga fights and the Pavlik fight there wasn't much left in the old gas tank. I'm surprised the guy is still around.

    Yeah. ESPN schedule is wrong.

Lemieux was rumoured to fight Rubio but then it was announced that he would fight Avendano, then it was annouced that Lemieux is hurt, should be back in november and Troy Ross will headline the August 28th card.

Nice to have that cleared up...ESPN2 should try like hell though to keep this a WBC eliminator with Rubio (no way Zertuche is winning this rematch), though the idea of Lemieux vs. Matthew Macklin is one hell of an idea, too. Lemieux will have a title in 2011!

David Lemieux has boxed the majority of his fights in Montreal and he also boxed there as an amateur, so it would have been his home town, however he is injured and as above noted, he will not be fighting.

Also, Troy Ross WILL NOT be headlining that card on the 28th. I know from very good authority that Ross will not be fighting that day either!

Good fight and a good test for Lemieux.
