Easier said than done!!!!! It will be an exciting fight up until Marquez finds himself belly-up. Good thing for replays because that will help him understand what in the hell happened to him!!!
I think this is a great fight. I love Marquez and think he's a great sharpshooter but I think if Lopez fights a good disciplined fight and just lets his punches do the damage without getting stupid he can stop Marquez.
We've seen Marquez wobbled, but never in serious trouble except at the hands of Israel Vazquez (and even then not put out cold). We've seen Lopez in serious trouble at the hands of Rogers Mtagwa - who is a lesser puncher than Israel Vazquez (in a p4p sense as well as straight-up). This happened in deep water. Stamina in a prolonged war isn't anywhere near as much an issue for Marquez as it is for Lopez. Hence my pick of Marquez anywhere from 9-12.
I really dont mind who wins this fight but if I had to i'd probably prefer Lopez. I really like Marquez and this would be a great way for him to finish his career, but if Juanma wins impressively he can become a very big name, which is what boxing needs more of, whereas Marquez is coming to the end of his career anyways.
Good point. Now take into consideration Lopez struggled to make that weight for the final time and he just knew he would run over Mtagwa.(which we know didn't happen)In a P4P sense as well as straight up Marquez doesn't have the chin that DeLeon has, but we see what happened there.
It sures seems like the right fight at the right time for JuanMa. But you can never count out Rafael, with experience, a big punch , and the motivation of a guy who may be towards the end of his career and doesn't want to be.
Touche, but Ponce's problem was more that he just got caught cold and took some perfect shots. A smarter fighter (and faster starter) in Marquez isn't as at-risk to getting caught cold like that. He has also shown amazing recuperative powers, being one of those in the sport whose "chin" problems have more to do with visibly affected or even dropped with a good punch than with being put in serious danger of being finished by one.
Good point. very good point. but Juanma over comes it. I have no doubt he'll come in with better endurance
He took Israel Vazquez' power just fine. You are over-rating JuanMa's power, I just saw you post that he's the biggest P4P puncher in the sport. That, he is not.
He would definitely have to receive serious consideration, especially if he wins convincingly. I'm with the majority in this thread though and am picking Marquez to win this one. Late TKO in a FOTY candidate.
Juanma starts well, first 1 or 2 rounds, then Marquez begins to school him for 5-6 rounds and then knocks him the **** out.
This sounds exactly right to me. RM might even take a count in those first couple of rounds, but he'll hang on and set the pace into the second half.
