Honestly, this dude never looked like someone who could bang, but the proof is evident. So how did he do it? I've seen his punches in slo-mo and to me it appears he throws straight punches with an extreme amount pivot at the shoulders. He doesn't get his hips into the punch like Tyson did, it's all his upper body only. That seems to go against conventional wisdom. Anyone else see anything?

I think a large part of his "power" came from very good punch accuracy and timing rather than punching technique. Watch the hook that hit Vitali on the chin in round 1 or 2. It looked soft but Vitali was stumbling around like an Elephant who just was hit by a bazooka shell.

    Explosive power. Kinetics.

For Sanders it was all in his tendons.

Ive only watched his 2 fights with Vitali and Wlad. He rocked Vitali more than Lewis ever did. Cory came so close to having Vitali down for the 1st time. And of course he gave Wlad his first true ass whipping. Seems like he is/was under appreciated for his skills.

His power is getting grossly overrated. Only good fighter who he stopped was Wladimir who has 100% glass chin. :good

That's where Hall Of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan claims he got his throwing power. Good tendons :good

He didnt have too much power but fought southpaw the way he stood it was hard for opponents to see his left coming. more the fact you couldn't see it or brace for it.

Corrie had some very straight, accurate, powerful punches and as another poster already said, being a southpaw his punches were hard to see coming.

As the old-timers always say, it's the punch you don't see coming that hurts you. And Sanders had a very strange and rare ability to throw huge left hand leads. If you look at his ko of Wlad. He stunned Wlad with a number of single left hand power shots. Few fights throw power shots without first throwing a jab. But Sander threw these straight single shots that fighters just didn't see coming.

I saw him fight Vitali in person and I can tell he threw the hardest punches I've seen. Basically, he'd get tons of handspeed behind a punch with all of his weight in it. It was easy to see how he could drive a golf ball.
