Toney wins one way or the other.....depending on how Joe faught I feel Toney would win by KO or a clear UD. I do think it would be compeittive.

Toney was special and fought the BEST at this weight. Only a freak like RJJ could touch him. Hopkins has ducked Toney his entire career. Toney would win this fight.

 

Toney by KO ..Does Joe really catch James with all his flurries with out getting countered ? I think we know the answer to that ..The only way I see Joe beating James is if the fight is in Wales and it gets stopped like the Manfredo fight :good

Exactly. Toney by close, competitive UD. Calzaghe is woefully underrated by MANY boxing fans.

 

i always love that anyone who disagrees is a "yank". curious, the only two who support calzaghe are from the UK, while support for toney is worldwide.

It'd be a close enough fight I think.

Joe would start well and win maybe the 1st round or so, and then Toney would start picking off big counters when Calzaghe was coming in. Joe would be hurt and Toney would start winning rounds. Wouldn't imagine Calzaghe being stopped though, he's chin has good credentials.

But I think Calzaghe has got the ring-smarts to stop coming straight in for Toney to catch him after he's been found out, and will start fighting in patches, stay at range and from angles. He would make it difficult for Toney and would share some of the rounds later on.

Toney could work at a high out put when he was at his best, and I think would keep stepping up when he needed to. He would be landing such clean shots through Joe's leaky defense, in comparison to the glancing blows Calzaghe would be finding as he tried to get to grips with Toney's amazing head movement.

I think it would be competitive fight, but would be a clear points victory for Toney, and Calzaghe would look fairly battered at the end of it.

Just my guess at it.
