A B level fighter is someone like a prime Arturo Gatti. You think Willie Lee is on the same level as a prime Arturo Gatti? No, he's a nobody. He has no talent at all and is leagues below even solid B listers. He's bum level. What the hell is your rating scale?
What's wrong with Rigondeaux outside of his age? He seems to have all the right tools to make his mark. Time is a factor, though.
An F level fighter is the worst possible guy you can find. Someone who has never won or only won against a guy who is making his pro debut. lee has actually fought some very good fighters and while he loses to all the elite fighters he has faced at least he has beaten someone with a name once in his career. He also beats D or F level fighters. Id say he is a C lvl fighterat worst a C-. he is not 'bum' level you guys are ******ed sometimes
just my opinion, i think you partly nailed it though his age to me is a big factor. For a guy at his low weight and considering how short a time he has been Pro he should be fighting every 1-2 months easily. On top of that I see some weaknesses in his style coming to the Pro side. IMO he is a KO waiting to happen because he isnt busy enough, will be rushed due to his age and someone with fast hands will knock him out. I might be wrong, wouldnt be the first time wont be the last i just dont see it in him at the pro level.
I did not see this particular fight, but in the past I felt he was missing some things. At one point in the Brewer fight Grady hit him with 3 or 4 consecutive upper cuts. He was on shaky legs, but the bell rang and ended the round. I didn't like the way he got hit, or the way he reacted.
He's never faced an elite level fighter in his entire career. Dawson was in his 11th pro fight when he ran through Lee. The only "name" fighter he ever beat was Alex Bunema who'd just come off a devastating loss to Martinez and a win over Mike McFail lol, and hasn't fought since then. Every other time he's stepped the comp up to what would be considered world level he's been beaten in non-competitive bouts, including his fight prior to Lara. If your definition of "F level" applies exclusively to the Brian Sutherlands of the world, then perhaps you're right. I look at the grand scheme of things, personally. Lee is a no talent, and far from even B level. C level is pushing it.
Well, we differ greatly there. I don't see the kind of talent at 122 needed to offset a guy with his potential unless some glaring mental flaws are shown in his upcoming fights. He has all the skills necesssary. I definitely don't think he lacks assertiveness. He's cool, calm, and collected at all times, and goes for the kill when necessary. A better prospect than JuanMa ever was, in my opinion. What fighters did you have in mind when you mentioned "fast hands?
Cuba is finally getting some pros who are more interested in training/fighting than partying! SOME...
Of all the former Cuban boxing olympians I seen so far Lara has impressed me the most although Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Solis (fatass but he has skills), and Despaigne are very talented in their own right. No denying there. But imo he should wait a little more (not way too long though) until he fights one of the top 10 fighters of the division. Get some more experience, tweak some weaknesses he might have, and move on from there.
At least you put together a counter argument and are willing to make a discussion rather than make absurd claims like these guys when a fighter loses they are utter **** or F level. It depends on where Rigo ends up fighting. If he stays fighting 2-3 times a year he is going to be too old to make a dent. If this remains the case I see one of your B level guys beating him. If he fights at featherweight, which is a very deep division, he will get his ass kicked by most of the top 10. I think Lara has the better movement as a Pro, I like his fluidity as a fighter and I also like the way he is being worked up. I can see him snatching a belt as early as next year.
No. Some of the top of the featherweight division: Juan manuel lopez, he has some weaknesses look at how he was dropped in his last fight by concepcion. rigs would have many chances to couter a guy like that. chis john, what is going on with him anyway, he has some blood illness? cellistino cabellero, veteran fighter throws a lot could overwhelm rigs but rigs is so fast I believe he will land on cabellero interesting fight. rafa marquez, lopez will beat him first, if the fight were to happen I say rigs takes it. yuriorkis gamboa, fast hands lots of power..... but can be hit. another entertaining fight who wins? I say rigs has a great chance against most of them now with the exeception of cabellero who would give him the most problems IMO.
No, Atlas is not right! He has it in his mind that Cotto is beyond shot and just about anybody can beat him. Well, not anybody can beat Miguel Cotto! People thought Foreman is gonna beat him, now many think that Chavez Jr. is going to beat him and according to Atlas Lara would beat him. Show some respect!!!
