Yes - the biggest name on his resume was Winky Wright, but if you add up the quality of opposition and how he looked in that particular victory, Quartey was his best win and the highlight of his career.

Vargas was never the same after the Trinidad fight they rushed him at 21 yrs old he wasn't ready yet if they had waited a few years he could have been a great fighter. Out of the same gym now comes Victor Ortiz he kinda reminds me of Vargas and at only 20 I only hope they don't make the same mistake twice. I hope Vargas does beat Mayorga and retires for good

I think the highlight of his career was the 30 seconds or so in between knocking Trinidad down in the 4th round and getting battered by him to the testicles and watching everything slip away just afterwards.

I would have it like this

Ike quartay - of course ya this has to be 1st... he beat a very solid opponent, and up until last year was the only person to ever beat ike like that. forrest nor hoya both had problems beating him.

campas - yes i realise its campas.... but the way vargas utterly pitched a shutout imo, awsome..... this was textbook vargas in his prime and i wish more people would watch this fight....

winky - although this wasnt vargas at his best, if you watch you still see why he was able to beat winky, punches in bunches, variety, footwork... and underated fight.

Marquez was a quality vargas too...

but the highlight of his career is probably the ike fight, campas fight, winky fight, and the trinidad loss.

I would say Quartey for sure. Looking back on it Wright was a better W but Wright wasn't the name back then that he is now. Plus Vargas looked a lot better in the Quartey fight than he did vs. Wright.
