He would beat Cotto as of now !!! Remember, Cotto lost to Cubans in the amateurs, so why can't Lara repeat the same dosis ??? :huh I think he can !!! :good
I agree with mostly of your post, the Cubans have tons of amateur experience, and come from Cuba's famous boxing schools but they also need some time to adjust to the pro game. But certainly, they can beat anyone even in their early careers !!! :good Just watch Rigondeaux become World Champ in less than 8 pro fights...
I think Rigondeaux can do it, he's the best of the Cubans IMO. I don't think Lara is quite as good. I really don't think he could take Cotto right now.
Lara defeats Cotto, Cintron and very possibly Angulo too. Why not? They are not superhumans, and Lara was way better than them in the amateurs. Don't be scared of pro boxing, amateur boxing and pro boxing are like brothers, just more rounds and more violent. The Cubans have always produced World Class professionals since Kid Chocolate and Gavilan, they are here again, and they will succeed again !!! :good
You are totally right my friend, if Cuban boxers would have been allowed to keep on boxing ( and never banned from pro boxing since 1959 ), boxing history would have to be re-written. Why? Because Cuba has the best boxing school in the World, ( known throught the whole World ) and the Cubans simply love Boxing, that's why they are the #1 Latin Country producing Gold medals in the Olympics, Pan Am games, World Cups and Goodwill games. There is absolutely no reason to believe that if given the opportunity that the Cubans would also do it in the pro game, as after all, before 1959, Cuba produced Kid Chocolate, Gavilán, Mantequilla Napoles, Luis Rodriguez, Kid Paret, Black Bill, El niño Valdes, Kid Tunero, and many others! And Cuba only had around 3 to 4 million people at that time ( from 1910-1945 ) and there was only 1 World Champion per weight class, imagine now, that Cuba has around 12 million people and there are 4 World Champions per weight class...:-( In my estimate, Cuba has lost approximately 70-90 World professional Champions by never participating in the pros, and now they are trying to make a comeback! :good
The Cubans are not only good because of their amateur experience, if Cuban fighters would abandon the amateur program and become pros like other countries, they would still produce many World Champions. The amateur experience is just a big plus for them today, Cuban greats of the past like Chocolate, Gavilan, Mantequilla, Rodriguez never were amateur greats, and they are Hall of Fame... :scaredas:
Keep in mind....... If they had other options, probably half of them would have never put a foot in a boxing gym.
Remember, boxing a great opportunity to escape the regime and make good money quickly once they are out. If the regime wasn't there, at least 50% of these cuban prospect wouldn't be boxers.
Cuba has great boxing schools. No doubt. The best??? May be. Of course they look great at the olimpics fighting against kids with not even half their experience. If they were allowed to be professional most kids would make the jump before participating in the olimpics. Also, many trainers would be too busy making money to waste their time with amateurs.
well yo gt the gist of what im saying, if they were forced like they are now, nd let out after 300 fights that they usully have or by the age of 25 they would o very well.:good
Cuban amateur legend Mario kindelan, beat Cotto, Khan, Trinidad and countless of future pro champions in the amateurs, this is to refresh your memory. :-(
I guess you are still mad at Lara for beating up your Grady Brewer, that's understandable...:-( Nobody says Lara is an OK prospect except you, and that explains your situation perfectly...:-(
