Has anyone seen this movie? Ving Rhames plays Sonny Liston.

I thought it was ok, nothing special, I was disappointed with some of the fight scenes and thought the film concentrated too much on his love live. Overall, worth a watch though.

I think I turned it off halfway through, I really should try and watch it again. Incredibly disappointed though. With a story like Listons it could have been a great film.

I also didn't liked the fact that Liston as a prospect portrayed by Ving Rhames looked like a 50 year old man, he really wasn't believable as Sonny.

When this was announced years ago I had high hopes, thought Rhames was ideal to play Liston, but read the previous thread on here and it put me off. Might just download and have a look

It really bugs me when people jump at a great story and hijack it by doing a really poor job. It basically rules out (not in all cases) someone else who might've done it well. The Ali film with Will Smith is a good example.

I agree, it could have been so much better. I was expecting more. Unfortunatly I didn't read the previous thread and went out and brought it.

It seemed to skip from him coming out of jail, having 1 fight, and then suddenly fighting for the world title.

I thought the ending was very disappointing too - could have made more of that. It also potrays itself as the film that tells the story of the 2nd Ali-Liston fight which hardly features in the actual film.
