How can Shane Mosley be ranked #5 for P4P? :think

Anyhow, I think he's by far overhyped and doesn't belong on the P4P list... At this point, he's passed his prime, supposedly doesn't take anymore enhancement drugs, and he is getting quite old... I also happen to think he was never quite the P4P king, he was also hyped and overestimated at his top, and was rather exposed by Forrest and then later on Winky and Cotto...

Him in the P4P today is ridiculous.

Btw, I don't understand their list: http://www.ringtv.com/ratings/pound_for_pound/ So #5 Mosley, nowhere Berto on that list. Though you click on http://www.ringtv.com/ratings/welterweight/ and now Berto is ranked #3 and Mosley #4... So how can Mosley make P4P #5 and Berto not making the list, while in Welterweights Berto is ranked above Mosley? :nut

I guess from their stand point, he lost to the number 1 or number 2 fighter so they dont want to take him off the list completely. In my opinion he is not a top 10 and wasnt a top 10 even before the Mayweather fight

Wasn't it Jim Lampley and other commentators who keep referring to Ring Magazine's rankings as being the one standard rankings to cut through the BS of 4 champs in every weight class? I thought that list was supposed to be fairly good as it seemed to be highly regarded... But Mosley #5?! :-(

even more laughable is that Paul Williams is still on there and Donaire is way too high on that list.

Berto(3) is ahead of Cotto(5) on WW based on what?? Berto won to a very inactive, out of shape Quintana?? The same Quintana that was destroyed when he was fresher by Cotto?? Make no mistake ( & I hate making predictions like this, but.... ) today's Cotto would send that hyped ass into oblivion in 8 or less!!!

cause Shane has kept his mouth closed about Golden steroids and all the users and pushers. Shane is again being awarded for the bullet he took. this is just a hunch , I have no proof clearly.

Just in case you didn't know, he (Mosley) is part of Golden Boy Promotions (GBP). Who is the owner of GBP? Oscar De La Hoya. Who BOUGHT the Ring Magazine a few years back? Oscar De La Hoya. Who can manipulate the Ring rankings? You guessed it, ODLH.

As soon as I found out that ODLH bought the magazine, I canceled my subscription. I haven't looked back since.

Oh, and I don't think a real P4P fighter would have gassed out in three rounds and look scared and nervous as if it were his pro debut. Unless of course he wasn't allowed to juice like he normally does. P4P #5 my ass.

The Ring magazine has often come up with ridiculous P4P ratings.
P Williams has to be one of its other big P4P jokes having him in there.
Shows how bias the whole rating system is

I am normal. I was thinking that I was the only one that didn't understand why he was even on the top 10 list.

It's basically become a marketing tool. If you've got HBO showing your fights, you'll have to do half as much as a fighter who doesn't have it to get ranked. Having fights between P4P fighters generates more business, so the network figured that manipulating the P4P rankings is a great form of advertising.

In exchange, Golden Boy gets their pick of the litter of HBO dates for their cards and a fast-track to get their fighters shown on the network.
