I'm sure Adamek is laughing all the way to the bank, because of the crap offer Golden Boy promotions offered him. Right now Hopkins would have to split the fight 50/50 if he even wanted to fight with him anymore. The reason the fight never got make is Golden boy only offered Adamek a flat fee of 500k and Hopkin was to make around 3 million. Hopkins complained about Adamek turning down the fight but it was him who really didn't want the fight. Adamek made a little more than 500k fighting Banks. It's unfortunate that Adamek can't fight on HBO more often.
Golden Boy offered $1.2. In his next fight, not sure of the opponent he made less than $200k. I dont see the fight happening at this point b/c TA doesnt have title & Bhop has his eyes on Haye & the WBA strap.
Hopkins live on espn as a broadcaster said that Golden boy offered Adamek $1.2 million but that was a complete lie, thats where I lost respect for him. Adamek's team said they would have accepted 1.2 million in a heartbeat but it was never offered to them.
If the fight ever happens, Hopkins will pull a rabbit out of the hat 1 more time and completely out fox Adamek and make him look like he made Pavlik/Tito look. I don't think Adamek has enough of a punch or speed to even trouble an old B-Hop.
Where the money part of the issue is concerned, Adamek puts asses in seat, and makes people turn the TV on. Hopkins does neither. That's all we need to know. The above comparison of Pavlik, Trinidad, and Adamek is silly at best. Adamek is not a junior middleweight like Tito was. Adamek is not a sick and injured middleweight like Pavlik was. And here is another area where the comparison breaks down. The smartest thing BHop did in the Pavlik fight was start fast, and hit Pavlik hard enough to earn his respect right off the bat. Hopkins would never get Adamek's respect, not ever, not at any point in the fight. Adamek TKO 10-11 Hopkins. And by the way, I am a Hopkins fan.
