...he can be credited with allowing 2 amateurs to waltz in to MMA and become an elite player overnight in one fight. Brock now Toney.

In truth he is facing guys with a great background in their chosen sport and some serious training heading into the fight BUT I fear the naysayers will use to fuel the fire of how MMA is easy and a bar room brawl.

If Randy loses, I think it reflects terribly on him but it shouldn't reflect terribly on MMA. A world-class wrestler and hugely experienced MMA fighter should never, ever lose to an MMA novice who has never had even a single MMA fight. If Randy allows himself to get clipped before he gets the double-leg takedown, I will not see it as a weakness of MMA, I'll see it only as unacceptably bad tactics and performance from someone who has let himself down.

If James does somehow pull off the victory, expect Dana to be fizzing and throw him in with someone like Jon Jones to make sure he is crushed. That's why I hate this whole thing about James being in the UFC.

If Randy loses it doesn't matter b/c he's 47! It's a win win situation for UFC and Dana b/c if Randy wins of course the boxing vs MMA thing will be force fed to the masses and if he loses they'll chalk it up to Randy being old and shot and won't give credit to james. And James already knows that.....but James could really give a damn b/c he's expecting to win and continue to make waves in the UFC.

I can't blame him b/c he's definitley a lot more capable than most of the guys who come through on the Ultimate fighter. And some of those cats end up being TOP level guys. James is a little old but if he's rejuvinated and "HUNGRY" (no pun intended)...he's a ****ing problem for anyone...including those in the UFC.

Oh, Toney's definitely 'HUNGRY'. You'll be hard pressed to find somebody say otherwise.

if randy losses i see it potentially opening the door to a less shot, younger boxer maybe trying his hand in MMA, but i don't see it as a victory for boxing, or failure for mma

that being said, if toney losses, i see it as expected, so i don't really see it as a failure for boxing, or a victory for mma

personally i like both sports (and yes they are different sports) and i don't get the hostility and polarization of some fans

i feel the same as you, both can be either great or horrible to watch and theres a lot of skill and technique as well as the brute fighting in both sports

Ditto. James is extremely talanted in one area Randy is extremely talanted in another. It should be interesting In usual wrestling vs boxing contest the wrestlers will win. If Randy is patient the 5 minute rounds may be too much for James to try to control, james will have to catch Randy early and knock him out. It is possible. This will be very interesting

Randy is like 50 yrs old. If he loses this fight then we can always bring up the age excuse.

Anyways losing to lesnar ain't a bad thing especially what lesnar has done since becoming the champion. He already defeated frank mir and shane carwin. The two top heavyweights in the ufc. Now he has his eyes set on cain velazquez then dos santos.

Lesnar is for real. I think everybody keeps forgetting this dude was NCAA wrestling champion. All they talk about is he was a WWE wrestler.
