At first i felt its impossible to score it this way. It seemd to me more close and really tough for Adamek. It might've been cuz i expected an easy one sided fight with KO included on Grant. However, after rewatching it i agree with the score cards. Its difficult to find a single round for Grant and i think its similar situation here like with the Arreola fight. At first it seemd quite even but watching without emotions makes it clearer. I guess its one of those fights that need being rewatched in order to understand the score. If you dont agree and think it was actually a close fight, please point out the rounds Grant should get (after rewatching...). [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HC2lWNYouc[/ame]
I scored it 118-110 on the night. It's easy to score if you turn the sound off. Bob Sheridan makes Max Kellerman look like a genius.
I didn't actually make a scorecard but I thought Grant won only about 3 rounds at max and no more. I agree it was hard to give him rounds(and not just because I'm an Adamek fan either lol)
Very good analysis. I was at the Pru Center, maybe 60ft from the ring, plus watching with Nikon binoculars (it was like I was standing in the ring with them!). And I thought is pretty much was a shut out for TA. Give Grant the 6th for the great right hand with second left in the round & the 12th for his aggressiveness. But thats it! Adamek out landed him all night long. Snapping jabs & a ton of left hooks to the face. plus all the body work. This is what pisses me off. He doesn't KO the guy & now he's overrated? So he's not a Mike Tyson or Jack Dempsey killing people. You don't have to be. Win on points in convincing fashion & you've done your job. To some, it wasn't a spectacular win. The fact is, he's a small HW getting the job done against much bigger men. Can he out point a Klitschko? Maybe he could. All he has to do is keep his head on his shoulders for 12 rounds. :good
Pro Boxing is scored as follows: Clean Punching (25%) Effective Aggression (25%) Ring Generalship (25%) Defense (25%) Adamek won just about every round.
116-112. Adamek won the first 5 rounds pretty easily. Then he really labored from 6 through 10. He won the 11th easily but lost the last round by a wide margin.
I admit i didn't score individual rounds when watching online the next day and i was distracted druing parts of several rounds, but i would say it was a close fight. Could Adamk have taken the vast majority of rounds if I was paying attention to every minute, it's possible. but from watching the majority of the fight, I'd be amazed if propper scoring resulted in a near shut out. Grant stalked him, cut him off, countered fairly well, landed his fair share of hard clean shots.
I had it 116 to 112 for Adamek......... But Bobby Sheridan is a nut case who jabbers way too much...... Col. Bob Sheridan needs to find another outlet..... He's too much to digest.... He could call a sex act between two bugs interesting..... INSANE!! MR.BILL
:good One round sticks out tin my mind. MG landed a clean straight right hand at the end of the rd that had TA buzzed. No only did the announcers not say anything, but there was 10 sec. of silence. For fight fans that have never watched a fight without the sound, you have to give it a try. :rasta
Even that 6th round Adamek was in control until he got cought in the last second and if his knees didnt buckle it would be a clear round for him.
I had Adamek winning every round except the 12th. Adamek was if full control the entire 6th round, except for one punch by Grant, but it was the head butt that caused the damage! Watch that fight! Also elbows.
I didnt get to watch the fight live because I am vacationing in Croatia so I only watched it recently after reading the comments on ESB and I was expecting a really close fight, some even claimed controversial or a gift with Adamek being seriously hurt almost out, so this is how I approached to viewing of it. I gave first 5 rounds to Adamek. Some were clear others were closer but Grant wasnt consistent in any of them. Then came round 6, I knew that was the turning point of the fight so I focused on that round. I was expecting a total domination from Grant. To my surprise the round looked identical to the first 5 with Adamek in control until that right hand at the end of the round. I was expecting Adamek to be completly out and barely surviving but it was exagerated, he was hurt though. I give this round to Grant because of Adamek's reaction to that punch. The following rounds I was expecting Grant to take over, but that wasnt the case, Grant was following Adamek, throwing more punches but also eating a lot of compbinations from Adamek as well. Those were close rounds but to give them to Grant based on a few more punches being thrown? Adamek still outlanded him in those rounds. In the 12th round though Adamek was trying to cruise to the end and Grant was looking for a KO so I give this one to Grant. So final score 118-110 look about right.
Watch the 6th round again. Watch the punch land, then immediately after the punch watch the head butt, that's what hurt Adamek. Also watch all the elbows thrown by Grant. That's where the cuts can from. The American Boxing media hate Euro fighters to the extreme. I saw the fight live. Adamek should have been given credit, but they cut him as if he was the loser. Grant could not stop Adamek because he was not fast enough! Adamek out boxed Grant.
