The Pakistan captain has seriously blown it.

As soon as Broad and Trott got the total past 150 the field went back, ever since it's been easy.

**** me Trott is boring to watch though!

 

This series is conclusive proof that this England team is crying out for Ian Bell:yep Somebody HAS to make way. Collingwood or Morgan likely candidates.

As a side note, I've never felt somebody getting out was so inevitable and imminent as Collingwood today

 

I bet lots of Betfair users (including me) felt sick today waiting for the 8th wicket to fall.

If it happened any time around the 150 mark they'd be all out and Pakistan probably approaching England's total atsch

 

It's a tough one. I just like Bell. Who'd be a selector.


I didn't have access Betfair today, otherwise I'd have backed the draw at some point. (I layed it at the start of the day. I'm about as I was at the start of the day, although a Pakistan victory looks unlikely from here)

 

Fitness permitting, almost certainly Bell will play the first Ashes test in place of Morgan. Tinker plays better down the order where the heat is off anyway.

 

The selectors definitely have lots of thinking to do.

If I were in charge, the three guaranteed picks would be the top 3 - Strauss and Cook won't have to contend with McGrath and Lee, and with the ball coming on early can play themselves in by leaving on length and punishing the bad ball. To me that's the biggest weakness of teams that played there when the attack was at it's best - playing balls that they didn't have to play.

Trott is like a poor man's Steve Waugh. Bullet proof, but with less flair and aura.

The rest are open debate. Pietersen might as well be batting with a snooker cue, looks all at sea. He really needs to play some cricket away from international, but he's fallen out with his county and doesn't have a deal for next year.

Collingwood always plays **** until he goes out there playing for his career, he's done it before in Australia and I suspect it will tip the vote in his favour at the selection table.

Morgan's technique is too loose against the best bowlers. Pakistan only have two capable of taking wickets, he seemingly lacks the patience to build an innings and plays daft shots against the quicks.

There are certainly lots of young lads coming through that are probably a couple of years off, like Lyth and Hildreth.

Prior is safe as the keeper.

The bowling is what concerns me, Anderson is too inconsistent to lead an attack, Broad flatters to deceive against good teams, Finn is average for me, though Onions will only realistically be capable of containment over there.

Swann is obviously nailed on, they need to consider putting Rashid in there, some of the Aussies aren't the best players of spin, Clarke excepted.
