Hopefully that will be enough for him to retire with, so long he has not got any other expensive habits that we dont know about...other than eating himself to obesity.
I wonder what the "stars" of UFC are saying about that payout?? Toney for his part is dishing out a lesson ito the UFC guys on how to promote a fight. Win, lose or draw, Toney is the man!
Randy made about 1 million for each of his fights against Tim Sylvia and against Gonzaga. And that was about 3 years ago. I bet he's getting about the same now.
Good for him. Its a win win situation to him. If he wins he gets bigger match in boxing, with the interest he has been generating and gets another big pay day in UFC. If he loses its better retirement pay day, that Boxing was offering since big names see him too high risk low reward type of fighter.
He has played his part and sold the fight. Dana should just put Toney on a contract that sees him get paid if he can back his talk up. Give him £250k. Double it if he wins. Give him a bonus if he actually ko's couture. Ensure he gets more money for his next fight etc Toney has sold this show more than it would have done. Dana is expecting a lot more PPV buys.
this is the big difference between top boxers and MMA fighters, and that's the paycheck. for dana white to get top boxers in UFC he has to pay alot more money. for example, floyd on average is on 20 million dollars per fight, so for dana white to get floyd into UFC he has to pay somehting around 30-40 million dollars, or maybe even more.
Wow how embarrassing for MMA fighters. I would be pissed if i was a pro MMA fighter. Here they are making 30 maybe 40k a fight once they have a belt and a guy with no belt or MMA experience comes in and makes what they will make their whole career in one fight. Dana has to be a freaking billionaire. Usually UFC PPVs do pretty good and he pays his fighters crap. That money has got to be going in his pocket.
He claims that after beating Couture, he plans on defending his IBO heavyweight boxing belt in October and then returning to the UFC to beat heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in February. Lesnar is a behemoth whod probably have seven inches and 50 pounds on Toney. Lights Out is undeterred. Brock has no heart, Toney said. Everybody [saw] what he did last fight. That [expletive] turned his back and ran like a chicken. The only thing was Shane Carwin got tired too. Toney said the problem with MMA fighters is they dont want to take a punch. Still, he respects the sport and its athletes. Hes been watching for six or seven years.
