A lot of the younger lads coming through can't cope with cuts, in part because the corner work is so shite.

Compare Mick Williamson when Paul Smith had half his eyebrow split in two to the idiot at the end of round 5 with the towel and cotton buds, almost as bad as Aaron Snowell with a jonny full of ice.

Juan Diaz is another that shows out a bit when he's cut.

I just thought that as well. Where were all of the Maidana experts at before last night then? Why has it taken so long for people to realise his limits? Expect Khan's win against him later in the year to be labelled as 'expected' and 'not a big deal' from now on; probably by the very same people who have called for the Maidana-Khan fight all along based on a Boxrec KO%.

More important than Maidana being limited (which everybody knew as far back as his loss to Kotelnik) is how much heart Corley showed. Let's focus on that.

He really went to war with a younger and stronger fighter that he was absolutely supposed to have been knocked out by. :thumbsup Big respect to him.

 

since I was one of the first on this thread to say I think Khan beats Maidana ive searched through all my posts in the hope that Id said it somewhere before on this forum. Ive always felt Maidana is there to be out boxed by any top fighter

He didn't look to impressive, but we have to remember Corley is a slick southpaw, quite different to Khan's boxing style!

 

9-13 in his last 22 fights atsch Slick probably isn't the single syllable s-word i'd use.

 

A bit off topic but was there ever talk of Corley Vs Vivian Harris around about 2004 or 05 would of been a decent clash i think.

 

Corley had Cotto out on his feet for a bit and had Mayweather stunned and hurt a bit, the southpaw can box and got himself in great shape. He has no business up at welterweight where he got caught last fight.

Maidana is massively overrated on the Ortiz win and his ko ratio. I cant believe people rate Maidana in top 4 at the weight. Even worse many people completely ignore Kotelniks win over Maidana
