Thought I'd try and find a highlight video for the Abraham Dirrell fight (personally found it quite entertaining), and managed to find a decent quality vid. Anyways, the more I see it, the more I'm disgusted with the ref for not awarding Abrahams knockdown. I'd certainly go as far as saying that it was a massively contributing factor to his frustration and subsequent disqualification. What does everyone else think? all andre can do is fight the man in front of him. its not his fault abraham wasnt awarded a knockdown. froch arguably knocked kessler down as well. **** happens. you gotta keep your head about you. i know you are just pointing something out and not trying to justify it. i think what was more of a contributing factor than that was the fact he was getting his ears boxed off by a much more skilled fighter.
100% KD It may have contributed to the DQ, but it was a stupid move from AA. I like to see a rematch between those 2, with this fight as baggage.
I agree it's nothing to do with Andre and that Abraham being boxed to death for 9 rounds would have been horribly frustrating. All I'm saying is, I'd be pretty wound up myself after having been outboxed for 9 rounds, to then score a legit knockdown and have the ref effectively say "nah mate, your in Detroit..."
If Abraham didn't punch him he wouldn't have fallen down ergo the punched was a KD whichever way you look @ it. Abraham = robbed.
I've watched it a few times. I thought it was a legit knockdown, but if you consider where the referee was standind, it's easy to see why he thought their feet got tangled.
Well, there was foot on foot but way before the shot. At the time AA clocked Dirrell, his foot was behind Dirrell's... But there seemed to be KD for Dirrell before, only not to be counted correctly as it was more a push, nothing really connecting. This things are difficult to get right, even if you try. It was a shitty refereeing, quite a few low blows were landing and a highly unsatisfactory end to a fight for both guys.
