Coatbridge fighter Ricky Burns is hoping the noise generated by his fans in Glasgow's Kelvin Hall can propel him to world title glory on Saturday night.
Burns will be challenging Puerto Rico's Roman Martinez for his WBO super featherweight title.
Burns told BBC Scotland: "Every boxer wants home support, especially in the later rounds.
"I've an excellent support that follows me. They help to spur me on. I'm sure it's going to be a night to remember."
Burns may need all the help he can get, given his opponent's record.
Martinez, at 27 the same age as the Scot, stopped Essex fighter Nicky Cook in Manchester last March to claim the WBO crown and has a record that suggests he will be a formidable foe.

As long as I stay focused for 12 rounds, I'll be leaving with that world title.
    Super-featherweight Ricky Burns
"Twenty-five fights, 15 knockouts, we all know he is a big puncher," said Burns.
"Watching his last few fights, you can see he does try to box, but he always reverts to his old tactics, trying to drag you into a brawl.
"I've proved that I can take a shot. From when I was an amateur, I would never duck anyone in a fight. I was always up for fighting the best. This is a chance to prove to myself that I belong at that level."
Burns' trainer Billy Nelson, also in charge of John Simpson's preparations for his Commonwealth featherweight title defence against Stephen Smith on the undercard, has been impressed by the progress his fighter has made, suggesting he is in the best shape of his career.
The boxer himself is in no mood to disagree.
Burns, a former Commonwealth champion who boasts 28 wins from 30 pro fights, said: "The preparation has been excellent. I can't wait to get in there and get on with the job in hand.
"There have been a few setbacks and delays with the fight. Originally it was meant to be in Puerto Rico but my management and promoter got me home advantage, so it will be a great night for Scottish boxing.
"As long as I stay focused for 12 rounds I'll be leaving with that world title.
"Every boxer is the same - as soon as you put on those gloves in a world title fight, you can't get any bigger than that, and I have the chance to fulfil everything that I have ever wanted."

He looks like he's had a few Irn Brus and is all settled. Glasgow will give a real welcome on fight night

Burns keeps talking about the crowd driving him on but I just can't get an image of him freezing on his first really big show out of my head. Rocky has been there and done it on big cards before. As much as I wish Burns well, and I'll be supporting him on the night, I just can't see him taking the belt.

I think the Arthur fight will have been experience for him to cope with a fight of this size minus the world title belt that fight was pretty big news at the time and a huge oppurtunity at the time as most saw Arthur as a sure future world champ at the time, but the problem for me is that Burns is just not good enough.

the only way burns wins this fight is if he's in and out all night, not getting involved and hope for martinez to tire in the later rounds, add home advantage to this and burns could eek out a points victory although it would be a **** fight.

my guess is burns keeps it fairly competative for about 5 rounds only to get put on his arse a few times from some nasty body shots. and its all over

The crowd issue can work two ways. I mean who's to say because Ricky will have fans behind him he will box the greatest fight of his life? Sometimes it can have megative effect. It's a hard task for him to win this fight. Rocky showed in his last bout he can box a bit.

I think Burns will start cautious and get a few early rounds in bag just like Cook did but Rocky has a habit of catching up with his opponents. I think he will hurt Ricky somewhere between 4-6 and then the fight will change course. It's not mission impossible for Burns but it's a mission that i feel he may fall short in.
