Mayweather's lead left hook

The knockdown Molsey scored over Vargas in their second fight was a lead left hook. Not sure whether it was Mosley's power or just the speed of it catching Vargas unaware but he was pretty much out of it.

 

Indeed achilles. I may not be RJJ but I'm not facing his opposition, and there's no need to be as reckless as him while throwing the lead left hook either.

I'm not sure what you mean by this thumb up, elbow down thing. Do you mean shooting the left hook from the hip rather than from his hand by his head in a defensive position, and twisting across?

Against Mosley he got caught with another right over the top and was hurt bad. Corely hurt him too.

 

Ya but that was just Mayweather holding his hand low, it wasn't his left hook being countered.

You'll find it was a right hand over the hook. If he'd turned it over more he'd be more protected by his shoulder and had he kept his chin down he could have taken the shot on the top of his head, which is the harder part of the head and he knows this because hes broken his hand hitting that part of an opponents head.

Sparring.

I like to work on it on the double-end bag. I actually just broke mine about 5 minutes ago while practicing it. I prefer to slip right instead of leaning back. There's multiple ways to get it done.

 

pads then sparring. you need someone to mimick throwing a slow jab (speed up over time) that you can step back from while pulling your head back then countering with the jab, right hand and hook. you can do the uppercut but that **** is just dangerous.
