the higher weights are poor because its just big men throwing wild shots and gassing . yes gassing in the first minute the lower weigts have been fun
It almost brought the sport down in this country in the late 60s/early 70s... Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it... If you like one night tournaments, over nine minutes or so, you like amateur boxing. The sports are cousins yes, but in an awful lot of ways very different, and they should keep their differences.
I think maybe theres a place for it once or twice a year for decent money with decent fighters. Its on far too often an more often than not its shite.
Hey, i like it, provides a different angle on watching boxing on TV, and not having to wait up ill 0400...
It's *******ising the game and promotes violence and not science, but on the other hand it's good that journeyman get some spotlight and a chance to earn a few quid. Far to many of them though, there seems to be one every month. They should do just a couple a year. At this rate people will get tired of it although it'll happen eventually.
It's good with the heavyweight division. I like to see upcoming prospects vs old, past it domestic favourites and this is what we have in the heavyweight division right now.
No because it's been done to death, they have ruined it by picking the wrong boxers (not so bad with the last couple) and the format leaves a lot to be desired how are you supposed to judge and rate the winner based on this.
I like it. It needs a change to how it is run though. It should not go above super middle weight. There should be no stand by fighter for injury. The best loser should go through if someone has to pull out. The tournament taking place over the one night is exciting and the fact there are only three rounds per fight means there is no "feeling each other out" stage which usually lasts about three rounds in twelve round fights. It's straight in with the action, no time to waste. It gives some of the lesser boxers a chance to earn a few bob also. It's something different and interesting. Long may it continue.
I just think there's something amusing about watching overweight dudes with shitty conditioning and equally shitty defence throw wild, swinging hayemakers and everyones getting knocked the **** out. It's not pure boxing but sometimes it makes a nice change. Or maybe it's just me...
It's a nice event to look forward to thats a bit different and as someone has already said, "When it's good, it's very good". The last heavyweight one was ****ing shocking though. But I suppose occasionally that will happen.
It can be really good. It should be fighters looking for their shot, none of them should be that well known beforehand. The thing they're doing now of putting in has-beens looking for one final payday is ruining it.
Prizefighter can be great but it is being over done. This is prizefighter heavyweights 4 ffs. and we are starting to see the same faces coming through. Pick five or six weight divisions and have a prizefighter competition two or three times a year. This might help keep the competition fresh and offer unknown fighters a genuine opportunity every three years or so.
