How many ATGs fight another prime ATG.
If we take HW for example we have a past prime Ali beating prime Foreman
and Bowe (if you have him as an ATG) beating a prime Holyfield
Other than that not one person in the HW top 15 has beat a prime ATG.


SSM was the most legitimate fight for Floyd at WW. He was a belt holder , almost unanimously regarded as P4P #3 and definatley seen as a bigger guy.

Floyd went up to DLHs weight to fight the man in his prime and gets much less credit for this win than say , PacMan , who wated around then made an already shot DLH live on the drip and weight drain himself befor he would take the fight.

 

Oscar was nowhere near his prime when Floyd fought him. You can come back and say "he was even worse when Pac fought him" and although that might be true, the fact remains that Oscar was several years past his best when he fought Floyd.

If Pac gets more credit than Floyd, its because although Oscar was drained for the Pac fight, Pac jumped up 2 divisions after having just 1 fight at 135, so basically 3 divisions in 9 months, and totally dismantled Oscar from start to finish. Floyd jumped up 1 division and struggled mightily although revisionist history will have people saying that Floyd "schooled" Oscar.

And anyways, Pac doesn't really get more credit than Floyd for the Oscar victory. I'd say as usual Pac's win gets devalued more than anyone else's would by monday morning quarterbacks who aren't able to come to terms with the fact that an offensive minded boxer is the best boxer in the sport.

Pac has not gotten anywhere near an ATG in there prime so there you go. DLH lost to all the "prime" great fighters he faced in his career when he stepped up. This game is harder than it looks from the internets.

I just want to say your first sentance is wrong. Pac vs Barrera 1 if nothing else shows Pac destroying an ATG who had been doing incredible up to that fight. I mean this was the Barrera that beat Hameed.

 

this was also Barrera who had been in over 40-50 fights.....the triliogy with Morales, the beating at the hands of Poison Junior Jones....physically he wasnt the same fighter. why do you think he adjusted his style to try and conserve his body. He used more boxing skills becuase he had to....as most fighters do as they age like Roberto Duran etc.

There are a host of All-time great fighters that never beat a prime all-time great but seperated themselves beating the best of their time....Sometimes there isnt more than one ATG per weight class in an era

 

At least Floyd wasn't knocked out by two nobodies lol...
