anyone here box with braces? In my gym the boxing coach wont let me sparr in his class, which consist of experience amateur, so i usually have to sparr outside of his class with random ppl with little or none experience and sometime cant even control their power and sparring is supervise under this one boxer which is a joke. I use a shock doctor mouthguard for braces which protected my teeth pretty well and I been boxing a year and 2 month. The only thing i ever suffered was a bloody nose.

Some coach's really stick to the rules, and I think that it is a USA Boxing rule that if you have braces, in order to spar, you need to have a specially made mouth guard from your orthodontist and possibly a note of permission.

Back when I first started boxing I had braces for the first year I started, I used a shockdoctor too and was able to sparr no problem. As long as you have the mouthpiece on, your braces shouldn't have a problem.
