I didn't think Burns could ride the rocky spells (no pun intended) but fair play to him :happy I'm made up!!!
Burns boxed brilliantly , Martinez boxed terribly. A nice surprise. Well done Ricky Burns, Billy and team
Pass me the humble pie. I said pre-fight that Martinez would hammer Burns and stop him. How wrong was I! My apologies to Burns and Billy Nelson. Congratulations. I was nervous right up until the last bell - it was an exciting fight and what a performance!!!
I thought he'd outbox Martinez from the start so there will be no humble pie for me. What Martinez did to get so much credit is beyond me, he was never very good, he just has good power that's it. Well done Ricky :good
Have to say though Ricky kicked it up so many levels' compared to his recent domestic showings unreal performance.
I've got to sign up, never thought he had a hope but was so happy to be proved wrong!! What a performance!!
I did feel Burns had a chance, but I ultimately ended up picking Martinez to win on points. I got it wrong, and I am glad that I did. Great performance from Ricky and Billy deserves a lot of credit as well.
ill sign but i didnt pick a winner partly because i hadnt seen much of either man and partly because i didnt see much between them but pushed i would have gone for roman
I'd bet on Martinez to win between rounds 4-6 but I'm happy to have lost. I never thought he'd keep Martinez off him never mind wobble him a few times. Wish I'd went to it now.
Fantastic fight! Possibly fight of the year. My prediction was miles off. Burns was superb, he couldn't have performed much better. However, Martinez was awful. I think one of two things occurred: 1) He killed himself to make weight, or 2) He had a terrible training camp. Either way he underrated Burns and was beaten badly by the better fighter on the night. The official scorecards had it far too close IMO
So don't sign up. The whole point of the thread is for people (like me!!) who thought Burns was a level below Martinez and was going to get stopped to own up!!!:hey
