I saw him, he was standing up...and he was quite tall and quite darked skinned.

I thought to myself, there's always one nobhead standing up.

I was gonna pull him up in front of everyone, & tell him to shut the **** up. Then I remembered I was at a real live event and not sitting behind my keyboard on ESB, so decided to stay quiet & leave him be.

I thought Smith was fairly impressive in some ways. Not in the fact he boxed really well or showed immense power as was being suggested when he came through as a prospect but just in the fact he showed grit, determination, strength, toughness. Basically he showed a lot of intangibles for a guy thats a real novice. And we're talking a real novice, he hasn't even fought a top 15 fighter as far as I can see and he's thrown in with a real solid operator thats never been stopped.

It's possible he could 'look' a lot more impressive against certain guys where he can have a boxing match. Simpson is always charging in with his head, he's very rough, wild at times, its hard to get a rhythm going against him.

Smith and Lindsay will be a good boxing match.

A very big well done to Ste, hard fought decision victory, showed how much a prospect we all knew he was and at last starting to get the well deserved exposure for all the hard-work he's put in over the years! Another champ who's a fellow Waltoner & Archie Beck'er. Mr Aconleys muzzy will be proud! ha, Nah seriously tho, well done lad. :good

I was there too Dunky, I was saying to my mate at one point I heard Dunky might be here and we both agreed your pro scottish posts are brilliant mate

We need to hook up next time ma man.

ps. I always have a bit of a get together when theres a big fight over the pond happenin and the lads all come round for a drink and a cheer at the boxing so next time any ESBers who want to come along are more than welcome. The beauty of it is that I stay in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours so noise is never a problem (unlike the night of Tyson Lewis at my old place when the police were at my door about 3 times about the noise lol )

I spoke to him over by the south side of the ring (near where the interviews took place) after his fight. He has put Belfast behind him now and will be moving on to bigger and better things in the future, im sure of it :)

I thought Simpson won by 3 or 4 rounds. A lot of them were close, but I just thought Simpson generally had the final word on the exchanges.

Still not watched it since i got home but whats bemusing is the amount of people saying " i thought Simpson won it, i thought Simpson won by 1-2 rounds etc " yet then in the same sentence i see, Smith was great etc or i wont argue with the decision :huh

Oh aye, Smith WAS great, he surprised me.....amazing amateur or not, he was there and he was getting stuck in, though it seemed from the 4th onwards he was on the backfoot and yes the bout was messy, grabbing/holding etc.

I didnt see someone taking someones title as it is deemed and i will say again, maybe i need to watch it via Sky and not with 30 Puds around me.

Smith you won.......right or wrong....... and we all got an opinion.

Heres mine..........Smith was the epicentre of the whole bill, Warren like 99.999 % didnt expect Burns to win.......FACT.......no he didnt.

This isnt bad losing, am pretty forward and honest as ppl know me here, be it in person or otherwise and at the moment......fair play to ya Swifty........regardless of the result you are what boxing needs and i am by no means taking anything away from you.

Eg. from the 3rd round on i exclaimed, "he gonna stop that heel calf kicks" previous to the start of each round........but he/you didnt.

Am i gutted ? I truly am......amd ayes i wont lie, i love Burns and i was blown away by his performance and am pretty sure (ask Rob Palmer) i said Burns when he plants himself........will shock ppl........but this hurts.

Anyways, i will dry ma eyes and hope Simpson keeps going.

This is by no means a slight on Smith, he got a win........but to quote ma 1st line "i saw Simpson win, i saw Simpsons win by 1-2 rounds"

Swifty, this isnt a post to berate you or undermine you......just that this is the first thread i read in relation to your win and i will say, when you walk your balls clank, i can only admire that.

I will say this again, this bill was about you, many will laugh.......feel free.......even Warren was getting involved mid fight if memory serves me right.

Anyways, all the best and i mean that sincerely.
