A round is not over until 3 minutes is up no matter how dominating a fighter is winning tht round before he himself is put down.

If fighter A knocks down fighter B

    Then the score should be

    >> 10-8 for fighter A if fighter A won the round without the knockdown

    >> 10-9 for fighter A if the round is even without the knockdown

    >> 10-10 if fighter B if fighter B won the round without the knockdown

I know Chuck Giampa says that if fighter B won the round, its 10-9 for fighter A (not 10-10) but that doesn't make sense, because what if the round is even?

Also, although it matters who won the round without the knockdown, you still have to count the knockdown punch because that punch plays a part in who won the round.

:huh when did i say i scored a round before it's over?

a knock down is when a fighter has his shorts pulled down, gets spanked, and all three of the judges masturbate all over the ring apron.. see, smart arse, i do know what a knock down is.:D

10-9 if you get the knockdown.

This comes up a lot. It's called a 10 point must system because both fighters start at ten points in each round. The winner of the round MUST receive 10 points, unless he loses a point for a foul.

A lot of this comes down to interpretation, but when I'm scoring...

If a fighter is dominating the round, but is caught by a lucky punch for a flash KD where he isn't hurt or was off-balance, I'd score that 10-9
If a fighter is dominating the round, but is caught by a clean, accurate punch that puts him down, if it's a flash KD or seriously hurt, I'd score it 10-8

In Cotto-Pac rd3, I'd say it was 10-9 to Pac, since other than the KD it was a clear Cotto round.
In rd 4, though the round was much more balanced, Cotto was winning it. The KD was so emphatic that it's a 10-8 for Pac.

A knockdown is the highest scoring thing you can do bar a knock-out. The fighter scoring the KD automatically wins the round. If the round was even until the KD, then the fighter who knocked the other guy down wins the round 10-8.

Wrong. It was 10-9 to Martinez. The winner MUST score 10 points. It's why it's 10 point MUST.

The only time that doesn't apply is if Martinez had a point deducted for a foul.

He's right actually. You win the round until the last 30 seconds. Your opponent lands a perfect counter (the most effective aggression and clean punching in the round). Effectively the opponent has evened up the round but you need to have a point deducted. He technically won the round because the KD is the single best thing he can do in a round bar a knock-out. But it gives you some credit by scoring the round even then deducting a point for the KD.

Remember you only score at the end of the round.

I had no idea there was such a degree of perception regarding this subject.

Ive always thought get knocked down and you lose 10-8 because the knockdown supercedes anything else regardless.

I thought everyone thought the same.

    How wrong i was.

I don't care what the actual score was lol... I would've scored it 10-10 or 9-9 is my point.
