Yes, Nick, that's ESB magic that's touched this thread. You can't do this anywhere else.

Well, that´s true and not. Sturm always wanted to fight in the US. Sturm also wanted to face Taylor, Abraham and Pavlik. His then-time promoter Universum just didn´t want him to. They wanted to fight him save fights and cash out. One of the reasons they parted ways. See Dzinziruk. Same with him, he wanted to fight all the big names but Universum didn´t let him, so they parted ways.

Now that Dzinziruk and Sturm are with other promoters/free agents I expect them to do what they always wanted. If not I´d be dissapointed by them.

B-Hop - Sturm would be an easy win for Hopkins. He´d take away Sturm´s jab and that´s it.

Taylor - Sturm would have been a good fight. They fought in the olypics. Taylor won. Not much of use for the pros though. Taylor maybe busy enough to edge a decision. But it would be a close and debatable fight like his fights with Hopkins and Wright.

Pavlik - Sturm would have been a very good fight. Pavlik´s busyness and power vs. Sturm´s technical ability and defense. Sturm showed me enough lateral movement to pick him by decision.

Martinez - Sturm. Hopefully it get´s made. Would be a very interesting fight. Toss up.

Of the young guns, coming up at mw, I can only see Golovkin beeing ready for him. Golovkin would probably beat him. The rest just isn´t ready yet.

We might still see the Abraham fight. Say Abaham comes out well of the S6 - not necessarilly winning it - and Sturm is doing well in the mean time too. For yesterdays fight, Sturm had to lose 14 kgs to make the mw limit. He is a big guy and maybe he will have some troubles making weight in the future and have to step up to smw. If so, and with Universum out of the way, we still might see Sturm-Abraham. Like back in the day when Abraham was red hot and Sturm was called a "chinny paper champ" I still think Sturm has a very good chance. He has the faster hands and while they would neutralize each other most of the time, I think he may land enough of his jabs to win rounds efficiently.

[ quote = Landshark ; 7688240 ] Als ik me goed herinner niet Sturm eend Arthur eigenlijk twee keer, weet niet over wie nu zou winnen:good? [/ quote]

Yes. He asked 2 millions E when Abraham offered him 1,5 or something like this.

Winky Wright. In a battle between long layoff's, krispy kreme diets, De La Hoya rainbow chasing/robbery and ear muffs.

I'd be very happy with any of the following:

    Martinez
    Pavlik
    Golovkin
    N'Jikam
    Pirog
    Macklin
    Lee
    Guerrero
    Lemieux

I expect him to fight one of the following:

    Zbik
    Manfredo Jr
    Darren Barker
    Oral
    Proksa
    Lee

Hopkins mauls, brawls, headbutts, and rabbit punches his way to a relatively easy, and extremely boring decision.

Taylor/Sturm would be a very good fight. Jermain was quicker and hit harder. I think that would carry the day, but fighting JT would have been Sturm's best shot at claiming the lineal championship.

Pavlik/Sturm came close to happening, but HBO low balled it, so neither fighter would take the pissy amount of money they offered. Pavlik could hold his own with Sturm's skill, and would wear him down and stop him.

Sturm can't keep up with Martiinez's speed and movement.

boo, the only time period where Pavlik wears down and stops Sturm IMO is 2006-2007. This would have been not long after Sturm's knockout loss to Castillejo, where he got stupidly brave and altered his style trying to be more crowd-pleasing; Pavlik was still undefeated and had the confidence of a noise-making KO artist on the rise. If it's 2007 and he'd benefited from the experience of going the first seven of his ultimate nineteen rounds with a world-clas boxer like Taylor, all the better.

Sturm has gone back to his bread and butter and actually improved technically in the last few years, while Pavlik has been looking more and more beatable (and in fact been beaten twice...by two styles as different from each other as they are from Sturm's, but two styles that in their own way eat aggressive stalkers alive, as does Sturm's).

Anytime from 2008 through the present and future, Sturm outpoints Pavlik unless there is a careless moment and he gets caught with something big (as Pavlik is always dangerous).

Pavlik can hold his own with the skill of some world-class boxers, yes - but none of the ones he's faced (not Taylor, not Hopkins, not even Martinez) have a jab that is so superior to his. Pavlik has a good jab. Sturm has a great one, and would have no problems landing it on Pavlik (who has the exact same height and reach dimensions as Lorenzo, btw) enough to score adequate points from behind his leather ramparts.

You did an excellent round by round on Sturm/Lorenzo, as always, but it was Giovanni Lorenzo. Let's not get carried away.

Sturm has not shown any real desire to fight any top guy for over 5 years, and for good reasons. He can't beat them.
