And Hearns did move up. Becoming the first former welterweight champion to win the light heavyweight title, and he did it two times.

Hagler was great at middleweight. He is the one great who probably would not have done well at another weight. He was so solid at the weight and didn't have much body fat at all.

Because of the newer weigh-in rules some of todays welterweights are almost as big as Haglar. Marvin was one of the best middleweights ever, but there are good reasons he spent his whole career at 160.

James Toney was not a real heavyweight....The guy was fat and flabby even at 190 pounds...I mean, it's amazing that a natural super middleweight could fight so effectively against natural heavyweights, but still, Toney was just a fat super middle who managed to fight effectively carrying around ample amounts of excess lard!!!

Highly unlikely. Hagler was a middleweight, period. I don 't think he could have 'rode the scales' like Toney did.

Yes , I did and now again just to be sure. Toney went up in weight mostly due to gaining fat , but partly due to gaining muscles and maybe even bones too . Hagler is even somewhat shorter than Toney and was a small MW. Maybe if he GHd , juiced , did hard weight training and ate a lot , he might have become a really very small LHW , a lighter version of Qawi , but no way he could have beat the Holyfield that Toney fought.

Hagler can beat Holyfield, but not The Holyfield.

Hagler was a heck of a fighter but lets not make him into something he wasn't. He was a smallish middleweight. Holyfield would stop him inside of three very one sided rounds. Sure, the Holyfield that fought Tony was a faded Holyfield. But he was still very strong and still had a granite chin. He is a guy who beat up Tyson twice and had a very impressive win over Foreman. What would Hagler do against even a faded Tyson or Foreman. He would get KO'D real quick. Nothing against Hagler he just doesn't have any chance against very good bigger guys.

Yeah, and I've seen him a lot flabbier at about 198 pounds than he was at 217 !

    It's called PEDs.
Toney was juiced to the gills against Holyfield.
I mean, he made Holyfield's juicing look like child's play.

    What a weird question :huh
Simply NO, Hagler is a smart man who knows his limitations, moving up to heavyweight would have been suicide, he was simply to small..

At first thought, I'm thinking probably not, as I agree with those who say that Hagler would not likely carry his weight as well as James did at heavy. But then again, that version of Evander was pretty well beyond faded. In fact he was really starting to look like **** at that point.

As has been written,Hagler was a middleweight, pure and simple, albeit one of the greatest ever. He was n't built to move up in weight much beyond 168 lbs.

Marvin, said last year he would of attempted to drain spinks too. And this is the guy that ran from spinks , when he was called out by him! And marvin, questions floyds courage!!
