After reading that part i thought its a local for sure but now i see its on boxrec and other storys starting to surface looks like its BJ after all, still wont belive it till i see it offically announced.

Breaking News: Danny Green V BJ Flores??

Eugene Carnachan - Word on the boxing grapevine is that Danny Greens next opponent will be heralded Cruiserweight BJ Flores. The fight is mooted to be officially announced within the next 48 hours.​

has fought in recent times. Having just heard that Green is to announce BJ Flores as his next opponent it would appear that fight fans –and scribes alike – could possibly see Green fighting a credible contender in the not to distant future.. ​

Flores is the current NABO title holder having won the belt in a title fight in February of 2008 against big punching Darnell Wilson. ​

Flores ranked WBC (14), WBA (7), IBF (10) and WBO (4) has recently signed a multi-fight deal to compete in the MMA

. How this affects – if at all – a possible fight with Green remains to be seen. ​

Recently Flores voiced his frustrations and made it clear he feels the champions in the Cruiserweight division are giving him a wide berth. ​

Twenty nine year old Flores who is of Mexican-American lineage made his professional debut in May 3rd, 2003. ​

Since turning pro and having pulled off twenty four wins – 15 inside the distance - with one draw the California based fighter has gone undefeated. ​

This year Flores was a sparring partner for WBA Heavyweight champion David Haye in Hayes build up to his title fight against former champion John Ruiz. This is telling in that Flores was deemed by the Haye camp of standard to keep a fighter of David Hayes ilk in work; and by all given accounts he did just that in taking part in some spirited sparring sessions with Haye. ​

Flores has an impeccable amateur pedigree having been an American national Golden Gloves winner in both the light-heavy and heavyweight divisions.​

Many people have been asking for Danny Green to take on a live opponent (including myself) so hopefully the often inaccurate boxing grapevine is accurate this time. ​

This potential match up could be a very, very good contest and has the makings of the young lion looking to tip the old lion off of his throne. However if Danny Green is known for one thing it is his belligerence in the ring and he won’t go easy and if this fight comes off BJ Flores is in for one hell of a contest. ​

The ONLY thing about this matchup thats suss is that BJ hasnt fought in over a year, this will be the weakness Green camp are banking on for Green to win this one. I would have much prefer him fighting an active opponent as we dont know how much BJ has lost from inactivity.

 

Ill believe it wen i c it. Green was gunna fight Tarver as well but that fell though.

 

good opponent and a serious test for Green.wonder how he will handle a 90kg CW? the Briggs debacle has an upside.had that of not been so farcical he probably would of fought Cameron next up.

Oh well at least Danny brings the big fights to Australia unlike other fighters who could never bring a good fighter down under.

Is this offical yet or just rumors on boxrec? Has anyone seen a presser yet or Flores in Australia? And what weight will this fight be at?

DANNY Green has taken the first steps towards resurrecting his reputation following the Paul Briggs farce by announcing one of the biggest fights of his career.

Green will aim to put Australian boxing back on the international map when he locks horns with the highly-respected and undefeated BJ Flores in Perth for the IBO cruiserweight world title.

31-year-old Flores, who turned his back on a career in Mixed Martial Arts earlier this year, looms as Green’s toughest world title defence to date.

Green has been hunting for a major opponent since July's farcical knockout of Briggs, who hit the canvas just 29-seconds into the fight after a seemingly innocuous left jab from Green.

Green and his camp were widely derided for choosing to fight the struggling Queenslander, who was suffering serious health problems.

At today’s announcement, Green said he had plenty of doubters to prove wrong following the Briggs farce.

“It has been a tough few months, but I’m focused on the future now and knocking out BJ Flores,” Green said.

“He is a tough fighter at the top of his game, but I have a point to prove and it’s going to take more than BJ Flores to stop me.”

Flores wasted no time in starting the trash talk, claiming he would be the toughest opponent of Green’s career.

“Green is a powerful puncher which was never more evident than his win over Roy Jones Jr, but he has never fought anyone of my calibre.”

“It’s my dream to become a world champion and if it means travelling to Australia to achieve that, then so be it,” Flores said.
