i love aggressive/warrior-like fighters 1. Tyson - the one that got me into boxing. a very fast HW with great power 2. Pacquiao - filipino pride. exciting to watch. devastating left hand. 3. Trinidad - although 1D fighter, he's very exciting to watch, especially his left hook. i love the way his countrymen supported him, filipino-style. 4. Morales - though i love many mexican fighters, erik tops my list coz he's warrior in the ring. almost no boring fights. 5. Corrales - a hard-hitter fighter. you'd always anticipate a KO whenever he fights. Big heart
no particular order: - Floyd Mayweather: I truly appreciate his hit and dont get hit strategy (because the point of boxing is to do damage without receiving damage) and the way he can adapt to any fighter, even if he loses the first few rounds in doing so - Lennox Lewis: I lived in Memphis during Lewis-Tyson and it was the first fight I really got into, my dad told me to root against Tyson and I did, but looking back Tyson is great too, but Lewis was my first boxing favorite Michael Katsidis: I have always admired his come-straight-at-you attack and even though he isnt the greatest boxer, his heart and determination cant be doubted, even in his losses Marvin Hagler: too bad I wasnt watching boxing when he was around, because I can still be entertained re-watching his fights. truly one of the best Juan Manuel Marquez: I feel he is underrated at times. he is very exciting to watch, has great heart, has beat some great, great fighters (including Pac-Man ) and its going to be hard come November to choose who to pull for between this Mexican great and Katsidis...
Hearns Duran Tyson Lennox Lewis Bob Fitzsimmons. I grew up watching the first 4, and loved watching them fight. I hated Lewis when he fought Bruno, wanted Bruno to smack him into the 5th row. He kind of won me over that day. Hearns was always great to watch, I loved Duran fighting the way he did waaaaaaaaay outside his natural weight class. And Tyson was on fire when I was a teenager, so of course I loved watching him. Bob Fitzsimmons was a blacksmith in a town in NZ where I lived for a bit. There's a statue of him there now. How can I not include him? (pretty average statue tbh) This content is protected
Mike Tyson : Made me a fan of boxing! Roy Jones jr. : Best skills i ever seen! Lennox Lewis : Best heavyweight since Ali imo! Joe Calzaghe : Best SMW ever (except RJJ) Amazing speed and will to win! Mikkel Kessler : Exellent fighter, and a true gentleman (but prob. also his biggest flaw) This is not atg fighters, but most recent!
muhammed ali...... descent boxer from the 60s and 70s. you mite of herd of him. he made me realise anythings possible if you believe in your self! andre dirrell....... most pleasing on the eye.... i mean his style, i dont fancy him!!! joe frazier..... just an excellent boxer that lost a lot of fame because of ali.... didnt like the way he was vilified for being an uncle tom. the guy was just trying to box. carl froch.... he's a local lad and for his talent has done extremly well for himself. he has one of the biggest hearts in boxing. rendall munroe...... because he's the only boxer who might of emptied my bins.
1. Max Schmeling Great fighter, even greater businessman and probably the greatest human beeing to ever lace them up. And he is kind of an idol of mine. He had a great career as a fighter. Hw champ, ranked in the ring Top3/5 for 9 years facing the hw who is who of his time. He had a very unique style, was very analytical and adaptable, could box and punch very hard. Good tactician too. And I love his right hand. The best in hw history. I love fighters with great right hands like Rocky Graziano or Lew Jenkins but he is still at least a class above them. After quitting boxing he founded two successful business which he sold before becoming the man Coca Cola in Germany. He worked until his 90s, driving 80km everyday, working for 10-12 hours. Everything he did he wanted to do as good as possible. Outside of the ring he had the unique ability to make the mighty like him without betraying his principles. The honorary of the Weimar Republic, Nazi Germany (despite him opposing Hitler and Goebbels directly when he they wanted him to fire his Jewish manager and divorce his czechen wife), and later the Federal German Republic held him in very high regard. He rescued or helped rescue quite a few people during the 3rd Reich and never talked about it. When people found out about it and he was asked why he never told anyone, he just said that it´s not worth talking about because everybody would have done so. During ww2 he served as a paratrooper and was shot down. Despite him not agreeing with its politics he defended his country and would have never abondoned it like others. He also was the biggest charity donator in German history. He certainly was bigger than life. 2./3. Tony Canzoneri / Kid Chocolate I can´t really keep them apart. I love both equally. Both were great fighters during a great era. Both were great defensive fighters while beeing aggressive at the same time. Canzoneri was an aggressive counterpuncher, fighting with his hands down to lure in his opponents and countering them. So far nothing new but he did so while going forwards and beeing aggressive. Very unique style overall. Great chin, great power, fast hands, he had everything. Where Canzoneri was an aggressive counterpuncher, Chocolate was an aggressive boxer. If you would like to compare him to someone it would be Floyd Mayweather Jr. Stylewise they are very similar with the difference that the Cuban Bon Bon was much, much more aggressive, used his jab more and was a bit better in just everything. ESB´s own "Stonehands89(?)" described him as "Mayweather with balls" and he certainly was, not only inside but also outside the ring, facing a who is who of his time. I love their two fights against each other. Two of the greatest displays of boxing of all time. I think I saw those fights more than 3 dozen times and it never gets boring. 4. Floyd Patterson Well, I think most of his career and outside of the ring behavious is known. A great fighter and probably the nicest boxer of all time. IMO would he be around today, he would start out as a mw and pick up championships, or at the very least belts, up to hw becoming a p4p atg. He had all the talent for that and was willing to face everyone - after he got rid of D'Amato. 5. Dick Tiger Instead of writing something, I just post a link: Dick Tiger
1. Prince Naseem Hamed...this guy got me hooked on boxing. I watched boxing occasionally before Hamed caught my attention, but after that I couldn't stop watching...especially his bouts. Also, interesting story...Hamed's style nearly got me knocked out. I think I was about 8 or 9 and I had taken a 3-4 month break from boxing because of the summer holiday. Anyway for those months I constantly watched Hamed, and started boxing like him in the mirror. I went back the gym with this "new style"...and yeah... 2. Floyd Mayweather Jr...the guy is a genius in the ring. I could watch him box all day long...I love watching all out action bouts, but I could sit there 24/7 watching him pick apart and dissect his opponents over the course of 12 rounds. 3. Manny Pacquiao...don't really need to explain. The guy gives 100% in every bout, most likely looking for a war...or to try and turn it into a war. He looks like he enjoys fighting more than anyone I have probably seen in the ring. 4. Eric Morales... 5. Marco Antonio Barrera...
1. Floyd . He's the most complete skill set that boxing has ever seen and quite honestly we fans have yet to see his full potential . No one has pushed him to unveil his true self and capabilities as yet. He's only shown glimpses here and there. If this was matrix. He is the one. If this was star wars. He would be Luke. Hate all you want. The man has ice in his veins. Cool, calm and collected always in the "ring". A true master who stands alone. 2. B-Hop. Yes he's old and is losing a little pep in his step but to me he is the Zhughe Liang of boxing and is a true wizard of the sport. He must have found the fountain of youth because he's an old man I wouldn't want to **** with. B-Hop is like a **** roach you thought you killed but always comes back. His career has many gems. Like Floyd he really takes care of his body and is just a great tactition. 3. Ward. Dude is just grimy and isn't afraid to get dirty. His pure stubbornness is going to take him far into the sport and he's a student of the game as well. 4. Pacquiao. Pacquiao is my go to guy when I don't want to think, analyze and calculate . He can be quite mesmerising . He just won't stop. Chess gets old after awhile so it can be refreshing watching checkers. Gamboa. He has qualifies that are found in alot of greats from the past and now and he's the future of the sport . He's so fluid like water as Bruce Lee would say and even though he started reckless he becomes more tightly zipped as each fight goes on. He too has a rare skill set that doesn't come often.
Do you think he was talking about himself when he typed 'the ultimate hater'? What can you expect, this is the guy that has Pacquiao down as #1 ATG, and the guy who thinks Pacquiao will beat any 147lber in history...this is also the guy who probably only started watching boxing after Pacquiao beat De la Hoya.
1. Nigel Benn 2. Floyd Mayweather- love him or hate him he's pure talent 3. Thomas Hearns 4. Lennox Lewis - Reason I got into boxing 5. Marco Antonio Barrera- Shattered my dreams as a kid when he annihalted THE PRINCE. Hon Mention. Bhop I would never bet against him.
1- Roberto Duran-Machismo personified.Fought with a fire few have matched. 2-Marco Antonio Barrera-Perfect combo of skills with mexican warrior heart and toughness his combinations to head and body are a thing of beauty. 3-Manny Pacquiao-As humble as it gets outside the ring but a killer inside it,a special fighter. 4-Bobby Chacon-One of the most exciting fighters ever.Never in a bad fight. 5-Arturo Gatti-See Above.
1: Sugar Ray Robinson. Incredible what this guy achived, how many wars he surivived and what dicipline he possesed. 2:Muhammad Ali. I love watching fast combos. Not only is he a great offensive fighter but he also has a iron chin and never wanted to quit. 3: Roberto Duran. Amazing talent both offensive and defensive. Has seen ups and downs in boxing but didnt quit until he was 50. 4: Marvin Hagler. Had a rough way to the top but made the best of it. Love watching him fight and love he's warrior mentality. 5: Rocky Marciano. I cant say he possesed a natural talent in the sweet science, but what this guy endured to achive victory is ****ing amazing!!!
