You know what else I learned about him in the two years he's been my plumber? 1. Will still Vicodin out of your bathroom cabinet 2. Hates kidney beans. ...Not as interesting as the Vicodin but it is a nugget I picked up.
One time when I was waking up from anesthesia, I thought I saw him buckling up his belt buckle. I was always suspicious of that. I wonder if he posts on the lounge or is a Vitali Klitschko fan.
He did NOT get stood on his head, but he did look like somebody ran over his face with a lawnmoweratsch
More to the subject at hand. I was actually pretty impressed with Pirog. I reacted adversely to the post fight hype he got after the Jacobs win, but the kid can freaking fight. There's no doubt about that. The fact that I think he has a lot of potential is the reason I kind of hope his handlers do not feed him to the proverbial wolves.
I think he's a bit overrated, people are touting as the new king, but he has to beat some guys for me first to be it
Pavlik did call out and fight an old version of BHOP. They thought after the Calzaghe loss he was shot and were trying to add a name to his legacy but PAvlik just was not good enough to beat a 40+ Hopkins.
As far as the thread Pirog is defiantely going to be on top of the MW scene for a while. That division is about to explode and the Jacobs fight might be the beginning of it. So much talent around there. I would like to see Pirog fight Angulo to see how he handles heavy preassure. My bet is he KOs Angulo too. But then again Angulo might want 2 mil to make the fight...
Boo, You are generally a knowledgeable poster, but why all the hate for Segio? Further, why the **** would he avoid a rematch with Williams? I and a lot of other folks thought he won the first fight and would be favored to win a rematch.
It really depends on who he faces. With his style, I think he gives just about anyone in the weight class problems, though I'd favor Martinez, Golovkin, N'Jikam and a few others to beat him. Yes, he's old, but he doesn't have a lot of mileage on his body. Martinez is 5 years older than him for instance. And he has a style where he doesn't take much damage. I suspect he'll make a few easier defenses because there just aren't a lot of decent opponents out there, and his name isn't big enough to give a good risk-reward ratio. Arum won't let Pavlik face him. Sturm's not going to face him. Golovkin and N'Jikam are working on going after other belts. Williams and Martinez seem like they'll be tied up with other guys for a while. And that's about all the name fighters at 160 at the moment. I suspect that someone desperate for a title shot who brings in a little money, like maybe Matthew Macklin, might try paying him decent money to fight on away turf, but he'd probably outbox Macklin fairly handily. Or maybe someone like Dzinziruk tries to move up to become a two-weight titlist.
I fully anticipate that Golovkin will rule the division if his handlers (whoever they end up being) actually let him face the top opponents. I'd favor him to beat everyone other than maybe Martinez, Williams and Pavlik right this minute, and he has a decent chance against those three as well.
Pirog looks to have the talent to do some damage in the MW division. He counters effectively & sets up his punches in a variety of ways. After a couple of defenses, I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Martinez. Pirog vs Sturm might be a good fight also.
