Rigondeaux is one of my favorite fighters so I think its great he is fighting for a belt. Its amazing the power Top Rank has with the sanctioning bodies though.

    Not going to happen.

Top Rank is going to put Donaire on the undercard of Cotto/Chavez and make Donaire/Montiel happen early next year.

I hope the Rigondeaux fight isnt going to be the fight shown right before Pac/Margo. It isnt exactly a good fight to warm-up a crowd of 70,000 for the main event. You have to really appreciate the sweet science to feel pumped up for a a fight like this, 70,000 fans most of them only being casual fans of the sport will not feel much excitement for this bout. It be wise to use Pavlik as the co-feature atleast that way you'll be guranteed to get some brutality in his fight and leave the crowd thirsty for more blood in the main event.

You mean, all the EURO fighers that Rigondeaux defeated for 10 straight years at the Olympics, World Cups and others ??? :-:)-:)-(

Rigondeaux got " bored " of beating the best of the best from all over Europe, and only lost once in 10 years, and he later avenged that loss!!!

What are you talking about dude?
The Cubans are the " Papi's " of the Olympics and you know that, so stop with this mirage of your ghost Euro fighters ... :good

    A source is here: http://www.***********.com/?m=show&id=30639

But Caballero apparently wasn't particularly interested in the fight anyway, since it would be "a step back".

edit: ah I can't post links to certain sites here. but you can figure out what should replace the asterisks, right?

Yep. So many questions unanswered in the pro ring. Rigo better come in superb shape because Cordoba will take the fight to him. It still sounds crazy that he dumped Roach, he could've joined Pac in camp and prepare with Ariza to be in top form for his biggest pro fight to date... But at least Lara will be there with Ronnie to motivate Rigondeaux.

Don't know if Rigondeaux is ready for Cordoba after six professional fights but it's great to see him making the step up so soon. I suppose he has to because time isn't on his side.

Cordoba promises victory, uses "Cuban power" in training, sparring

Ricardo Cordoba is taking the Rigo fight very seriously and has a message to the classy Cuban: this is not the amateurs! The Panamanian is training in Miami with Orlando Cuellar, the trainer of Juan Carlos Gomez & Glen Johnson, and former coach of Yuriorkis Gamboa. Cordoba will spar with accomplished Cuban amateur Luis Franco and up-and-coming Rances Barthelemy, the younger brother of the Gold Medallist Yan.

"The fight is now official, we're just training hard to get well prepared for this commitment," Cordoba said. "He has more experience than me as an amateur, but this is professional boxing and it's two different things."

I'm more excited about this fight than Pac-Marg to be honest..

if Rigo wins this I hope he tries to step up against Poonswatt. I think Poonswatt would have too much for him at this stage and Rigo would get his ass handed to him....

I'll be honest I havn't seen Cordoba fight before, but I doubt he's got what it takes to hand the Cuban his first Pro loss.

They should get Franco out of there quick-ish, before he beats Cordoba too much in sparring like Lara did to Hatton.
