That's exactly what's going on here. Hayes holding out for a Klit fight under his own promotion when he can take the lions share. No-one knows what slice Sauerlands getting but it's definately getting in the way. K2 know this as well.
Kind of make Hayes claim of a Slave contract look really stupid when he goes and signs options with Saurland :deal
This fight need to be outlawed. One of those glass chin's will be shattered into a million pieces. The amount of glass that will fly into the stands is a serious safety hazard for the people in attendance.
The non-boxing fans vastly outnumber the boxing fans. This fight captures the attention of the non boxing fans and is thereby a guaranteed success and sell out by virtue of the circus surround the build up. The promoters couldn't care less about the opinions of the boxing fans. Boxing is a business and a commercial entity. It's primary goal is to make money. This is what this fight - and every other fight - comes down to
They probably had dinner together, patting each other on the back for the good job of hyping the fight.
While I think the whole glass chin thing is rediculous and exaggerated in almost every case...........this post is funny, gotta admit.:smoke
Very enjoyable press conference video. I'm still scratching my head afterwards though. If this is all promotion (the most logical explanation), then why didn't they try to be funny (ala Ali)? It really did come off as if these guys don't like each other. Haye actually came off kinda ugly...it was like he resented taking this fight and resented having the opportunity to make easy cash. Otoh he may already be trying to get into Audley's head. But if the fight is so ez, why the trash talk? Oh yeah, to stir up publicity and controversey at 11 am.... There's some good quotage in the Haye interview following the press conference where he describes Audley as a "joke", a "fraud" and a "bum"...it would be pretty funny to just take that quote out of the context. Bottom line is Haye sees it as an easy fight and comes close to openly resenting the British public for being rubes. When it comes to Haye it can be difficult to seperate appearance and reality. For example I always thought Wlad was bullshitting about not liking Haye personally....but if Haye was being authentic today one could see Wlad's point. Similarly, it's not clear whether Haye and Harrison are mates or not...maybe Haye really does want to knock him out cold. Great press conference, I only wish it was for Haye-Adamek.
